A pre-production version of the upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible was caught on the road with its soft-top in the wrong position for this time of year in Michigan by a member of the Camaro5 forum.
The camera-phone scoopster claims the driver of the test car told him that the Camaro Convertible would be in U.S. dealer showrooms by next April, something that has already been confirmed by GM officials.
The Convertible variant of the latest Camaro gets a simple cloth top - most likely electrically operated - and small quarter windows at the back. It will be offered with the same V6 and V8 powertrains as the coupe model.
It's also worth mentioning that the 2012 Camaro Convertible will make its way along with its coupe brethren to Europe with sales scheduled to start sometime around Spring of 2011.

sweet!
just okay. hopefully, they will upgrade the interior. the lease on my camaro coupe expires soon. i would never get another chevy for many reasons.
What happened to the taillights? Looks like they were chopped off at the top. Ugly spoiler! Hate ragtops that appear after-market.
not a fan. the camaro was so slow coming out, i am bored with it already.
"...in the wrong position for this time of year in Michigan..." Hell, it was recently in the mid 50's here in the Midwest. Blow up the wading pool, drag out the grill and the tank tops and cruise in a drop top Camaro to Wal-Mart!! It's summer!! And we have plenty of time on our hands since everybody is unemployed. If you think things are bad now, just wait until the great unwashed hit the streets after a really bad case of cabin fever. Yeah baby, it's gonna be a long hot summer.
....^ Excellent comment...Please contribute more.
Top down, or no top at all? Or has GM adopted the new EURO bootless top look? Hope not.
Cars is a vehicle that was most in the world and is the vehicle needs lot of people everyday.
Does no one have anything NICE to say about this car? Jeez. Well, forget you all, I like it! Personally I am holding out for the hard-top, though. I feel a hard-top will lend a bit more sleekness to the exterior as well as a touch more sex appeal.
