First Lotus Evora Delivered in the United States

|

The man you see pictured above is Bruce Rice, or in Lotus' books, the first North American customer to receive the keys to the firm's new mid-engined Evora sports coupe. Rice took delivery of the red-colored Evora earlier this week at John Eagle European's Lotus of Austin dealership in Texas.

In the States, the 2+2 seater Evora is priced from $73,500. It features a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 producing 276 horsepower that drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

Tipping the scales at just over 3,000 pounds, the Evora goes from 0 to 60 mph (96km/h) in 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 162mph (260km/h) while delivering over 30 mpg on the highway.

If you buy one in red, you might as well buy a ferrari instead...

That comment makes no sense as if you could afford a ferrari that costs hmmm 4-5 times the cost of this evora than why look at a lotus what does the color have to do with it lol. My thing about this car is for the money its way to slow its engine way to pedestrian, and there are better cars for the money including the porsche 911. The lexus IS350 has more horsepower...lol this almost 80,000 sports car has the same engine and output as a camry thats a joke right?????

^^ Or perhaps he has taste and avoided the "prancing horse" to his own benefit?

Yeah, one could say this purchase involved more thought than buying a Ferrari. Anyone can go out and buy the obvious Italian sports car assuming you've got the pile of cash. Which will also cause you to inherit the $5K service for every 10K miles you put it. OR you can think about your purchase and get similar real world speed without the pretense of the prancing horse plus get an arguably more livable vehicle.

Yeah but use that same argument when compared to the GTR, 911, M3 cars that all are similarly priced and readily out peform this car while all having REAL interiors. Not to mention the 335i, S5,G37 all are in par with the evora performance wise at thousands less other than getting one because no one else has one, there is no point in buying this car over the competition its a purchase of exculusivity not logic...or best choice for the money.

Right on brother! Yes the point is that there are many choices other than the "normal" supercars such Ferrari. GTR, M3 and so on are all excellent choices in similar "affordable" price ranges and agreed they much more comfy on daily basis. Certainly the Lotus is the eccentric choice for someone who is "anti" the normal choices out there. Its a cool car for people who like cars...which is all of us.

^ Have you even looked? The GTR has a shit interior....it features Carl Ghosn's asshole that you HAVE TO stare down while you drive!
