Geneva Show: Gazal-1 Leaps Straight out of Saudi Arabia

|

This right here is the Gazal-1. It's based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and was built by engineering students at King Saud University. Here's where I'd usually bore you with the project's mission as read in a press release, but let's keep this one simple.

The Gazal is named after gazelles (I see it!), apparently a creature commonly found living in Saudi Arabia. It kind of looks like a G-Class at an FJ Cruiser. Can't you just see this thing bounding over dunes and through malls?

Eh, me neither. I can't say I'm a fan of modified G-Wagens in the least (any of them, Mansory), but credit where credit's due. As a school project, it's pretty cool.

I'm Saudi so I'm biased by default. I would LOVE to see a car manufactured here at last as a first step to gaining independcy from the west.
With that I said, the car is just a rip off of an FJ Cruiser. Different grill and rims, etc. but that's called after-market modification.
Regardless, the real good news here is that this car is going to be built in Saudi so for all I care it can look like a rusty old tin can.. I would still buy it and feel proud to drive it. Viva la Saudia :D

Haha... u Saudi's call this a car, after being driven around in all those exotics. U'll have better looking and performing models built by kids of africa and asia, only thing is they don't have enough money to execute it like Saudi.. after all its all OIL money, where else do they spend it.. make it.. and put a 14yr old dumber behind the wheels and ask him to learn drifting..
