GQbyCitroën: Is Citroen's Newest Concept GT a Car for a GQ Man?

|

Hot damn. Is it just me, or have recent Citroën concepts been some of the most show-worthy designer cars in a while? GTbyCitroën, definitely stunning. The Survolt, really fun to look at and reminisce about Ridge Racer or Cruis'n World. I even like the REVOLTe in a weird, this-isn't-right kind of way. And the next looker is just around the bend.

Called the GQbyCitroën, it's one of the best-looking GTs I've seen in a while - sorry, BMW - and is the result of a project led by GQ UK editor Dylan Jones.

The car's exterior was penned by Citroën's Mark Lloyd of DS3 fame (and his design team, naturally) while the interior is by Patrick Grant. Grant happens to be creative director at E. Tautz, a Savile Row tailor and the store where I purchase my linens.

According to Lloyd, "Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption. It is understated rather than in-your-face, sleek rather than macho."

As for the claimed numbers, they're impressive. With a direct-injected 1.6 liter gas/electric hybrid power train, it's said to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds while being limited to a top speed of 250km/h or 155mph. Emissions are at 80g/km.

If anyone happens to be in London this week for the official launch, get some pictures (Canon 60D, Panasonic point-and-shoot, or celly), and we'll post 'em along with the official shots.

it ugly like all other french cars, i think that this is one of the ugliest french cars ever made.. UGLY typically for french cars..

Beautiful are German, Italian and British cars, especially German and Italian brands.

"Beautiful are German, Italian and 'British cars'"
- British cars..British cars!!
Ur quite near the spot with German and Italian but Hyundai produces the most beautiful lot.

last anonymous - and how the F is this card the ugliest french car ever?

Anonymous said... »March 08, 2010

yes that's right German and Italian cars are the best in the world.. But also some of British car brands such aston martin, and jaguar are beautiful too..
This Citroen maybe is not the ugliest french car ever but I'm sure it is one of the ugliest french cars, typically for french design = ugly.

The best car brands (for design + beauty, power +price and safe) in the world are: VW, Mercedes, BMW, and Alfa Romeo.. the best are the best!

my english is so bad, je comprend rien, par contre je suis d accord pour dire que le designer est a tomber a la renverse, il est trop beau. avec cette grisaille de printemps, mr domagoj est un rayon de soleil et la gq car est somptueuse.
