[Updated with new Photos] Here is Honda's answer to the critics of the Accord CrossTour: the North American market version of Europe's Honda Accord Tourer that will be sold here in the States as the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon.
"The TSX Sport Wagon represents a smart choice for those seeking a vehicle with utility," said John Mendel, Acura's executive vice president of sales. "It's practical, fun to drive, luxurious and technically advanced, all while achieving an outstanding estimated highway fuel economy rating of 30 miles per gallon."
Along with an increased rear cargo space over the saloon, the TSX Sport Wagon also features a removable side panel to accommodate wider items such as golf clubs and integrated under-floor bins for hidden storage.
Whereas the sedan variant of the TSX is offered with a choice of 201HP 2.4-liter inline-four or a 280HP 3.5-liter V6, the station wagon will be launched exclusively with the four-pot hooked up to a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.
The 2011 TSX Sport Wagon join Acura's lineup late this fall with pricing to be announced later in the year.

This vehicle is far too smart for it to be successful in America...
And, as predicted, they fucked it up with that stupid beak!
At least it isn't a ZDX.

I wouldn't consider this for myself. I don't think its going to do well.
I've owned wagons (estates, if you will) my entire adult life...VW Passat, a couple of Audi A6 Avants, a very beloved E39 BMW....and currently a '09 Volvo V70. I have always said that if Honda or Acura made a wagon worth buying...in particular one based on the TL...I would buy it. While it may be too smart to succeed in the U.S., it is easily the most anonymous wagon I have ever laid eyes on...and that's coming from a Volvo owner. Very much looks like the Mazda 6 wagon from 5 or more years ago. Too bad.
It looks pretty ok from outside, too bad the trunk is that small for a wagon.
(just like Audi A4 ...)
Actually if you can get pass the unattractive head badge plate(Beak..COL!), it looks pretty good.
Nice purposeful styling with pronounced(Muscular) wheel arches, and good balanced flow to the lines. Nice, slightly aggressive attitude on the side profile, and plenty of nicely integrated green house. Nice rear treatment, especially if you can get the dual exhaust pipe look on the 4-cylinder.
Dash is interesting, but I wonder what it looks like without the Nav panel.
Looks to have pretty fair cargo volume with a low lift over height.
Overall, a nice 'Long Roof'.
Now, how do I eliminate that 'Beak'?
cars are about passion to the enthusiast. the beak? it is love or hate, i would say. that beats boring. me? i love the front. i do not find wagons all that attractive. it is the front end that gives this estate character. otherwise, it would have none whatsoever!
I like the sedan so much, the utility of the wagon should only add to the appeal! The front is what makes Acura unique. It is not boring, rather cutting edge. Good work Honda/Acura. Now, give us an AWD version!
Im live in the UK and can confirm that on the road the Honda version anyway looks very elegant and classy and is similar to the Audi A6 wagon. I have driven the idtec diesel manual and it is very quiet and smooth with lots of torque. this combo should be offered to you guys.
I drive a 2007 (prev version) tourer ctdi 6 speed manual and am very happy with it. My only complaint with the new version like your TSX is that the load area is smaller than mine. But the 180 hp idtec Type S with 6 speed stick might help me over come that when I but one. The 150 hp version comes with stick or auto (which is a popular choice for those who for some reason dont want the manual - but not me !)
"The front is what makes Acura unique. It is not boring, rather cutting edge."
If by unique you mean unique as much as a socicopath killing kitten with a meat tenderizer, then yeah, you might actually have a point.
And if you want your Acura to be 'cutting edge', the only that will EVER happen will be in the form of a detailed brand history printed on a glossy 300 page hardcover book detailing the rise and fall of the luxury brand known as 'the fall-short kid' and you get a paper cut on one of the pages.
No. This, like every Acura, is dirt. They need some balls and to distance themselves from Honda. They haven't, they won't, and they never will, and subsequently, they are nothing.
Acura is cutting edge. Agreed. The TL, especially is a blast to drive. The unique front-end is daring and well received by many. Kudos, Acura!
