GM Readying Chevrolet Volt-esque Extended Range Electric Minivan? Official Patent Designs

|

These here are official trademark designs of an unnamed Chevrolet compact minivan with very a Volt-like front- and rear-end styling cues - notice the shape of the headlamps and tail lamps.

As noted by our friends over at GM Inside News, the compact people carrier depicted in the drawings appears to be the same vehicle seen standing alongside the forthcoming Chevrolet Orlando MPV in a leaked video last year (see photo on the right).

It's been rumored that GM is planning to introduce a compact crossover prototype equipped with the Volt's extended range electric / gasoline powerplant at this month's Beijing Auto Show.

If true, it's almost certain that is the crossover we'll see at the Chinese motorshow that runs from April 23 to 27.

looks exactly like all the new KIA designs!!!!
Chevy copying KIA?? Shame.

It doesn't look anything like kia. If anything it looks more like the volt.

It takes its styling from the Volt. Which everyone knows has been around as long as dirt. I think by that criteria, you'd have to say that Kia is copying Chevy.

I predict that it is going to be good-looking...for a minivan.

"I predict that it is going to be good-looking...for a minivan."

the orlando looks more like a minivan equivalent. This looks smaller and more like an hhr replacement.

It looks better than a the Volt Sedan, which is one homely design. To say the least. According to my informants within GM, this is why the Caddy-based Volt was scrapped. We can count on the price of this van to be staggering. This, when a decent priced minivan is a slow seller. Go figure!

Do we really need this on Chevy lots, along with HHR, Equinox, Orlando, Traverse...??? Or, is this actually the Orlando?

replaces the HHR. not the orlando.
