Hyundai staged the world-premiere of its all-new Verna small sedan, otherwise known as the Accent, at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show today. Not surprisingly, the new Accent looks like a 2011 Sonata that was left too long in the dryer, boasting the same "Fluidic Sculpture" design language in a much smaller package.
The 2011 Accent measures 4,340mm in length, 1,700mm in width, 1,460mm in height, and has a relatively long wheelbase of 2,570mm.Hyundai claims that the small sedan's overall cabin dimensions are bigger than any rivals and that it comes with a 454lt trunk that can "easily accommodate as many as four golf bags plus three small tote bags."
The China market Verna will be offered with a selection of two petrol engines. The base 1.4-liter inline-four produces 106HP and 135.4Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, and comes with the choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic transmision.
The larger displacement 1.6-liter that delivers 121HP and 155Nm of peak torque will be offered exclusively with a four-speed automatic transmission.
For the China market, the Verna will be built at the company's Beijing plant starting from July and will go on sale in the country in the second half of this year.
Hyundai plans to gradually introduce the Accent's replacement to other regions of the world including North America by early 2011.

Sweet!!! great improvement...dnt like the grille much
I really like the exterior but the interior looks really cheap...maybe it's the cream colour...the interior in their i10 city car looks more upmarket and made from better materials than the one displayed here :S oh well the Accent was designed for the US market - which should explain all...
no ... the interior looks a little bit different then the spy shoot i saw before , may be this is the "China Ver." just like Elantra
Nice kimchi!
Like it.
Good point anonymous #2...I hope they upgrade the interior for the U.S. release because Hyundai's interiors have been really good recently...
Best looking car that Hyundai has ever made.
looking too generic. the look will grown old quickly, imo.
exterior is nice but dash is cheesy looking...a far cry from the Ford Fiesta.
Such pretty girls...
looks pretty good if a little generic, reckon it would be a good ride and it would no doubt prove reliable... as for the Hyundai, well
Not really sure how anyone can refer to this styling as "GENERIC", when the only other car to use similar cues was a product offered by Hyundai with the recent launch of the Sonata. Just my opinion . . .
Someone was wanting to compare this to a Ford Fiesta, . . . so, okay, let's compare: New Hyundai Accent (Verna) is expected to be rated at 44 to 45mpg highway, the new Ford Fiesta is rated at 40mpg. The Hyundai Accent has a 60K mile all inclusive warranty and 100K mile powertrain warranty, the Ford Fiesta has a 36K mile all inclusive warranty and 60K mile powertrain warranty. The New Accent is expected to have a starting price well below the 13.3K starting price of the Ford Fiesta, and offer more equipment standard on every trim level at that lower price. The panel fit, finish, and paint quality on a current Hyundai vehicle is superb by anyone's standard, the panel fit, paint quality, and trim finish on a current Ford product is likely the best of the domestic label products, and that's where it ends. It would be difficult to judge the materials of the interior, when none of us are able to actually physically inspect those aspects at this point and time. What I do know, is that every Hyundai product that I can physically see at the lot, touch, etc, has an impressive quality interior for the given price range. Ultimately, people will choose to buy whatever they "like", rather than comparing to another vehicle. But, if we want to compare, then I do agree, . . . this new Accent IS a "far cry" from the Fiesta, but in a good way!!! The Hyundai Accent will continue to offer more value for the dollar, and with a higher level of overall quality than most others in its "small car" class. PERIOD ! ! ! (andy)
This car is AMAZING LOOKING! I would like to see one in a metallic raspberry color, a "GIRL POWER" version, if you will. Nice car! - Julie S.
Olympic Cheetah always gets the girls! Oh, yeah, . . . the car. Great sculpture and lines all the way around. I like the way that the hard edge toward the bottom of the doors is more pronounced than what we see on the great looking Sonata. It makes it just a little bit different and unique. I want one!!!!!!!!!!! JEFF
This Car Looks Great, and upscale for its size and class. I really like the fact that this car has rear disc brakes. So many cars in this smaller class, still use less than ideal "drum" style brakes on the rear, sometimes even in the highest trim level. Way to go, Hyundai!!!
GREAT, NICE LOOKING CAR!!! I think that Jeff's "Olympic" Cheetah, is actually a "Soccer" or "Futbol" Cheetah (FIFA)!!! This New Accent is Awesome, to say the least. -mark
Too much of a caricature of the Sonata. Doesn't translate well.
I want this car!!! I hope that the North American release offers the 140hp to 150hp GDI 1.6L with a 6 speed automatic, like many people expect. Styling is amazing for a small car. There is an aspect of class present that the Yaris, Versa, Fit, Fiesta, and others probably won't quite match. Just my thoughts, of course. brandon
It`s great car..
2011`de Hyundai Accent Verna Geliyor
I actually, really like this color!!! It looks similar to the color on the Sonata Hybrid promo car that was at the NY auto show. This new Accent really hits the mark, great car!!! The build quality of the newer Hyundai/KIA products is very strong, to match the styling!!! -Shane
Nice legs er I mean wheels.
I'll buy it if the girl on the left comes with it. :) Otherwise, no thanks.
Is this coming to Canada? Anybody know ?
