Just when you think we've seen it all from China's clone-loving auto manufacturers, along comes Hawtai with this gem: the oh-so Porsche Cayenne-ish B35 SUV that was caught here by photographers as it was unloaded off a truck.
Set to make its world premiere at this month's 2010 Beijing Auto Show, the Hawtai B35 "improves" upon the first generation Cayenne's looks by adopting a very Bentley-like fascia with a large chrome grille.
There's little news on the SUV's mechanical hardware but don't expect to find any V6 or V8 powertrains under the hood...

looks shity
Oh dear God no!
i think i need to sew due to eye and inspiration damage
it does NOT matter what WE think. if it is loved in china and the carmaker brings in a profit and the buying public is happy, it is mission accomplished.
Tastes in China and the U.S. are obviously different. Kudos to the Chinese. My only question: Isn't there a copyright infringement?
rolls-royce and bentley grille must be the most replicated in the world, eh?
It looks more like a Hyundai Santa Fe, which Huatai makes in a JV with Hyundai over there. BTW this looks better than the Cayenne.
"Isn't there a copyright infringement?"
If this car was made anywhere other than China, sure, this would be totally illegal. Unfortunately, whenever a manufacturer goes to China to cut production and labor costs, they run the risk of their patents and designs being reverse-engineered (stolen) and used on domestic Chinese cars. Time will tell if these Chinese automakers can compete with the big boys, and I bet by the time they're ready to expand globally, they'll have to change the way they design their cars.
China really has no shame in copying anyones car design. At least those cars will crush like a soda can in crashes.
when will they come up with a dream car with Audi rear, merc front and Mazda6 side profiles!!!
"BTW this looks better than the Cayenne"
are you kidding me? this is rubbish - again I dont get it how they do this?? They should try and design something themselves.. If its anything like the safety of Great Wall or other made in china cars, they will take you to your death bed... Shame on them. What a blatant rip-off
Huatai??? sounds like some kind of crummy ching ching biscuit manufacturing company name...
More proof that the Chinese are nothing but thieves. And the western world is letting them get away with it.
Suck it up guys, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
Watch the free market economy at work :)
The rascist tones here suck, don't you remember the 'Jap crap' terms from the 50's when Japanese cars were clones of UK cars?
Now look where Toyota are, considered the gold star by Manufacturing engineers worldwide
Watch the Chinese do the same
& No, I have round eyes & white skin.
Crap, pure crap...
"Now look where Toyota are, considered the gold star by Manufacturing engineers worldwide"
Been ignoring the news lately I see.
Furthermore, because anon #11 is a white PC apologist with a hair-trigger sensitivity for anything that even remotely smells like a comment from a white poster; I have to point out because of his ignorance, anything above said about the Chinese IS NOT racist as the term 'Chinese" denotes a nationality, NOT a race.
"& No, I have round eyes & white skin."
Good for you! Do you want a coupon for starbucks too you waling talking sterotype!?!
I don't understand why Chinese car companies have to copy everything. With all the technology advances they could make better cars. Is it really about not having any kind of design sense? I don't get it. If they can build cars they can't afford good designers? Furthermore back here in the U.S. you can't overlook the number of Asian foreigners who are "wanna be" car designers in the best car design schools. Where do they go afterwards?
^ Even i don't understand how the U.S has some of the best car design schools.
i agree about the vast knowledge and technological traits of the great country of china. they should be trend setters, not followers. excellent point made above!
"technological traits of the great country of china. they should be trend setters, not followers."
Yeah, and it appears that the only thing the posters on the page can think of as an of late technological trait of China is papermaking.
You people are only thinking that they can live on past glories forever without having to keep working at it. The Chinese have a long way to go to be automitive technology powerhouses. For now, all they have is the sales figures.
Why on earth would you clone a Cayenne? That's like cloning Sarah Jessica Parker.
CHINA POWERFUL...
CHINA FRAGILE... Does it have a sticker on it that reads Foreign?
Man !!, I am Chinese and this thing is ugly. We need to send our designers to Italy Urgent !!
dear joslai germany but still its ITS UGLY
