Since Mercedes-Benz's parent company Daimler has no official plans to introduce an 'uber' luxurious coupe for its fading Maybach brand, the company gave its blessing to German-based engineering firm Xenatec to create a two-door version of the Maybach 57S.
Said to be developed in close cooperation with Maybach, the 57S Coupe special will be built in a strictly limited number of 100 examples each priced from a hefty €650,000 or about US$805,000 at today's exchange rates.
The transformation from a limo to a coupe includes redesigned A-, B- and C-columns with the second column moved back by 200mm, a more raked roofline, restyled front and rear ends, and a slightly wider body while retaining the same 3.39m-long wheelbase as the sedan model.
The extended wheel arches of the car are filled in with newly designed 20- or optionally 21-inch alloy wheels.
The four-seater 57S Coupe keeps the standard Maybach S' 6.0-liter bi-turbocharged V12 with 612HP (for the record, in the latest facelift output has been upped to 630HP), so expect about 5.0 seconds for the standard 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint and a top speed somewhere around 275km/h or 171mph.
We'll have more details and pictures of the Maybach 57S Coupe as they come in.

"We'll have more details and pictures of the Maybach 57S Coupe as they come in." Erm, could you keep them to yourself please? Thanks...
that´s an ugly face...
I always thought the CL-class was bit excessive for a coupe, but this is just ridiculous...
How does Maybach even still exist? Such UGLY cars, and for the price, my god, who would waste so much money on such an ugly car. Is Maybach supposed to appeal to the 60 and older(age wise) crowd or something?
where is the creativity ? i 'd prefer e-coupe black..! so much money minimum taste.
We have been clamoring for a replacement for the short-lived bentley arnage coupe, the brooklands and limited production run rolls-royce phantom coupe. few ever see these cars outside of palm beach, the hills and nyc. it (the "two door") looks very sophisticated without being overtly ostentatious. it is less mundane than the existing saloon variants and even rarer yet rear quarter convertible limousine. the highly stylistic car shown here has just the right ingredients and amount of pizazz needed without being over the top. the refinement of the sedans is paramount, as should this sleeker maybach offering. where do we place a deposit. i am in.
Well... its a perception of individual taste... Some like, some don't... For me (yeah I know), my perception is neutral...

That means you will sit in front of your screen all day.
I thought rich people, don't want to drive Maybachs, they want to be driven in Maybachs... a very desperate move for Daimler in my view.
Erm, Why? The Maybach is a limo. Designed for those sitting in the back. (Asthetics on the outside isnt a priority of those sitting in the back). What's the point of a Grand Tourer?
one must remember that owners of rolls-royces, maybachs, bentleys and such generally have fleets and often cars in various states and even countries. the maybach coupe looks far sportier than the more upright looking presence of the stodgy roller coupe and bentley brooklands. the maybach shape is far more conducive in coupe form. if based on the slow selling sedan, it should not be costly to produce. the brand needs more products and shot in the arm. this is it, imo, until the firm can diversify with additional platforms.
With such a limited run, these rare beasts should sell out quickly, especially in the United States (think LA, Beverly Hills, Palm Beach, South Hampton, NYC, Las Vegas) and Saudi Arabia.
Who would be stupid enough to waste $650K on an uglier version of an old Merc S-class coupe?
A Maybach driver. Which is proof positive that some people are born without a brain and that the car journalists throughout the world that were ooohing and aaaahing over these turds are idiots.
Ugh. It makes me want to hurl.
