After teasing us at this year's edition of the Chicago Motor Show in February with the Odyssey Concept (see here), Honda has finally pulled the covers off the production version its new eight-seater minivan that will begin arriving in U.S. showrooms this fall.
Minivans aren't the most exciting-looking vehicles on the road, and the new Odyssey won't change that notion. Nevertheless, the new styling and the 1.6-inches lower roofline give Honda's minivan more character and presence over the current model.
Compared to the outgoing 2010 Odyssey, the 2011 model is said to be wider (Honda hasn't yet released full details) and promises to be more functional and roomy with better interior lighting.
New interior features include an available entertainment technology that introduces high-definition connectivity and split-screen viewing.
For now, all we know about the powertrain options is that the 2011 Odyssey will be offered at least with Honda's 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine, with the Japanese company estimating a fuel economy for this model of 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
Specifications
- 3.5-liter i-VTEC™ V-6 engine with three-mode Variable Cylinder Management™
- Preliminary estimated fuel economy, Odyssey Touring Elite (City/Highway): 19/28 miles per gallon*

Wow. Honda really missed it with the styling. It looks like they hired some of the former Pontiac stylists and this is coming from someone who's on their second Odyssey! I imagine it'll drive nice as always, but sheesh they made it ugly.
I am with Anon #1. Toyota has finally taken the crown with the new Sienna. I will wait to see this in person, but I am most certain that the Sienna will take the cake.
woof...
unfortunately, after soichiro-san left us, his company just hasn't been the same.
i bought my last honda (s2000).
this is new?
this is a new what?
huh?

PS yes, pontiac "designers" have been going elsewhere to make a living and we can clearly see where... but not just here...
APRIL FOOLS, EVERYONE!
oh, wait, what's that? This is the real Odyssey? This has got to be a joke. Is Picasso designing for Honda now? The people who designed the front should have been introduced to the people who designed the back. This is just another example in a long line of designs that hurt the eye and damage the soul from Honda. FAIL.
Did they forget what they started with the concept??? Looks like they just pieced parts together to finish it. And who are these designers? Do they actually think living the sliding channel completely exposed in the rear panel actually looks good? Let's be a little more creative. Way to sh1t the bed Honda!
I dont get why this model still looks so outdated compared to our Australian Version.. The aussie one looks awesome with BIG alloys on it... So much sleeker looking and drives like a car, not a bus

lawd jezus...
wow what happened to Honda lately... first the accord station wagon, now this one. Toyota for sure had taken the crown on the sienna vs this new odyssey

^ Braddo, the reason is largely due to North American manufacturing policies. Firstly the vehicle must be made in the US, so all the parts made for the JDM (let face it that's the only reason why Australia gets it) Odyssey made by Japanese parts manufacturers would have to be imported to the US or rights sold, which is too costly for the low MSRP price structure of the US. Secondly the JDM is seen as too small for the US in all its overall dimensions, as even the outgoing model is larger. And thirdly the JDM model can only take a 4 cylinder, the US still demands the more powerful V6 (at least in Hondas mind).
This ironically has lead the US getting this dud with its essential 15 beverage holders and China getting the LHD version of the far superior looking JDM model. Sometimes China does get the better vehicle! LOL
that thing looks nasty...is Honda intentionally trying to drive people away? how do you eff up a minivan that you have been building since 1999? just ask Honda.
2nd Picasso is new designer for Honda. It makes sense.
So instead of ugly and boring, Honda is now overdone and ugly?
The new Honda Oddity.
Visible door track on the side is horrendous. Has same droopy ass look as that eyesore Mercedes R-Class. Another Honda design disaster!
Not into Honda's new design philosophy...
What is with Honda's styling nowadays?? Stupid shield grills on the Acura, the Crosstour is still ugly even seeing it in person, and now this mess. Nobody listens to their followers anymore, just like Facebook.
looks the new car lacks a proper finished and trimmed. exterior design's a bit like former Korean brands. with HONDA, that's a pity!
Wow. Given the prototype, I expected so much more. I wish I could say that those exposed door tracks were the only flaw, but the entire vehicle looks like something that was thrown together in a week. So much going on. Not much of it good. What a shame. It'll still sell.
It will still sell because majority of the people are not idiots like above. I mean whats wrong with design. May be the side profile/flanks have shocked one and all. See it in the real. Its a neat thing. Typical Honda sharp. Interior are lovely and practical.
No.. i don't see Pontiac, they are probably scratching thier asses in non activity.
It looks terrible. Like someone welded the front 3/4 to the rear 1/4 from a completely different vehicle. Honda is stinkin' up the joint. Oh well. It may make for an interesting social study. How much crap is a Honda fan willing to take?
YIKES! No Thank-You!
wow can someone please call the ugly police and have this minivan brought up on charges of being ugly as sin...
wow honda your slipping BIG TIME
WOW HONDA, ARE WE TRYING TO COPY hyundai'S GENESIS COUPE REAR WINDOW?
COPYCAT ALERT HERE, BTW HONDA IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD ON YOUR MINIVAN, GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARDS AND HOT THIS THING WITH A UGLY STICK
It looks like a second generation Odyssey homage that went terribly wrong
Toyota should reward whoever designed this.
This is the UGLIEST thing I've ever seen. And I was waiting for the new Honda Odyssey (we have a 2003 Odyssey and we love the car, just thought as long as I needed a new one I'd wait for the new design). Wow. I will NOT be buying this hideous thing. The Toyota is a good looking car but with all the design problems they've been having lately, now I don't know WHAT to DO!!! Love Honda. Will NOT BUY THIS UGLY, UGLY MINIVAN!!!
Minivans should try harder to make the outside look good. Hide the track.....you have the technology. I am so against the 2011 Honda track....and the New 2011 Nissan that I will in no way by one of those vehicles. I drive a Dodge Caravan now....with a hidden track.....Toyota Sienna will be my next van...Swagger Van.
Must have hired the designers of the Toyota Previa to create such a monster.....The new honda Odyssey is just bad ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!
