2011 Dodge Charger with Police Package Spied in Detroit

|

A cloaked prototype of the redesigned for 2011, Dodge Charger sports sedan was captured on camera by a forum member of "Cheers And Gears" while driving out of the Detroit airport. The spot lights on either side of the windscreen, right above the exterior mirrors, suggest that the car may be testing a police package.

While the heavy cladding on this Charger makes it difficult to tell the details, previous spy shots have revealed a new snout with a larger and more pushed out cross-hair grille, reshaped head- and tail lights and more chiseled surfaces throughout the body.

Probably more importantly, the 2011 Charger's interior will also receive a much needed makeover with a new design and higher grade materials.

As far as engines are concerned, expect to find the Chrysler Group's new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with some 280-horsepower (or more) along with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and from what we've heard, a new 6.4-liter Hemi V8 pushing out around 480-horsepower.

The facelifted 2011 Dodge Charger is due for a reveal alongside the subtly updated 2011 Dodge Challenger coupe by the end of the year.

bravo! dodge is on a roll. perfect timing, as ford and chevy are about to introduce new police cars. even more important is an all new civilian version of the magnificent dodge charger. gm, sadly will not offer the upcoming chevrolet caprice to the public at large. i am excited about the soon to be released dodge magnum (durango?) that stunned the masses here yesterday. this after the debut of the handsome jeep grand cherokee for 2011. shortly, we will also see the promising chrysler 300c and a new, never-before 200c.

I hear that the 2011 Dodge Charger squad car is known internally as "Enforcer". The car stunning crowds in Detroit (missed it, but received texts) looks ready to be unveiled with fine detailing (like wheels, grille) showing beneath the camouflage. The look is very fluid and far sexier than the current Charger!

A four door "Challenger". Thank you, Chrysler for not calling it a four door coupe! I am really liking this next Charger!

rumor has it that the 2011 charger police package will come with at least one v6, the current hemi v8, a 6.1 liter v8 (in the str-8) in either awd/4wd or rwd to allow municipalities to choose. our force currently utilizes hemi v8 dodge durangos due to our retched winter weather conditions warranting awd/4wd. personally, i like the handling of the charger with either a "6" or an "8" over any suv when going at a high rate of speed. additional traction from this dodge sedan would answer our dilemma. bidding for 2011 will be occurring soon, so i hope we have an answer shortly.

the caption reads "interceptor". that is fords name for the crown victoria police package. dodge refers to the 2011 charger squad car as "enforcer". please note correction. thank you.

Can't wait to see the "uncovered" version of this car, bet it will be awesome! That new Durango will be pretty sweet, Dodge will have an awesome line-up. I just hope Ford doesn't take all the cop cars (I heard the Taurus is getting a lot of action)

The brochures are now available on-line on the chrysler fleet sites. The US version is called the "Charger Pursuit" and the Canadian version is called the "Charger Enforcer". Wonder why they need two different names?

my 2006 Dodge Charger hemi police package is nearing 90.000 miles, I have not changed the sparkplugs yet, I use 5w/20 Royal Purple oil, changed every 7500 miles.
Last fall drove to the police car test from Texas to Michigan and other destinations accumulating 6500 miles, averaged 21.6 for the trip, vehicle was loaded very heavy, and I drive mostly in the high eighties, low nineties mph.
I have bee involved in police car testing for many years and instruct pursuit driving and other tactical driving techniques.
The Charger is a great police car, much better than I thought orginally.
