2011 Ford Explorer's New 2.0-liter Turbo to Boost Fuel Economy over V6 by 30 Percent [Plus New Video]

About a week before Ford lifts the covers off the all-new 2011 Explorer, the company released the first details about the expected fuel economy performance of the SUV's new 2.0-liter turbocharged straight-four EcoBoost petrol engine.

Ford says the Explorer with the EcoBoost engine will get at least 30 percent better gas mileage than the existing V6-powered 2010 Explorer, without, however, releasing any specific numbers.

The current Explorer with the 210HP 4.0-liter V6 is rated at 14mpg city, 20mpg highway and 16mpg combined (4x2 model), meaning that fuel economy for the EcoBoost-powered 2011 Explorer will be better than 18.2/26/20.8 mpg respectively.

"The all-new Explorer will give a huge universe of existing and prospective customers the capability they expect and the luxury and convenience they want, all combined with the fuel economy they need," said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas.

For the record, the next generation of the Explorer will also be available with Ford's latest V6 powerplants.

In addition to the announcement on the fuel economy of the EcoBoost engine, Ford also released a video with Carl Edwards, NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series driver, checking out the new 2011 Explorer.

Today Marketing 101 students here we have another case study of what to avoid when a company marketing a new product tries to rely on its brand name and loyalty base to create hype......

In order for your product to illustrate its attractive qualities and avoid promoting your employee biased perspectives of; brand image, product image, innovative abilities, and self importance you need to provide informative information to the customer. You as employees have all the statistical information about how good your product is, you need to make sure your customer has access to that too! Always assume your customers are intelligent, as this can only strengthen you product image!
