2011 Nissan Murano gets Revised Front Styling Due to New Diesel Engine, European Sales Start in September

|

Back in March, Nissan announced plans to introduce a diesel engine option for the very first time on its European market Murano crossover in September. The need for additional cooling airflow to the diesel engine and radiators meant that the Nissan had to redesign the front end of the Murano which enters the 2011 model year with a reworked fascia sporting a new grille and a reshaped bumper with larger air intakes and different fog lamps.

The Murano diesel makes use of a refined version of Nissan's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 190-horsepower and 450Nm / 331.9 lb-ft of peak torque, hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission. The new Murano 2.5 dCi returns 35.3mpg UK (8.0lt/100km or 29.4mpg US) economy in the combined cycle and 210g/km CO2 emissions.

The Japanese automaker also released UK pricing today for the Murano 2.5 dCi, which starts at £37,795 OTR and is available to order now with first deliveries in September.

UK market cars will come equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, power tailgate and colour rear and kerbside cameras and a navigation system with 7" touch screen, HDD 9.3 Gb music server, ipod, Bluetooth and aux connectivity combined with premium 11 speaker BOSE system, fitted as standard.

Nissan said that it expects the diesel model to account for over 90% of Murano sales in Europe.

This makes the new BMW X3 look attractive.

FINALLY! This option will revive the Murano DOA sales in Europe. However the price does seem a little high for the 2.5dCi. It's very close to Infinity 3.0d prices.... And makes the albeit manual only top-spec Mazda CX-7 2.2d at £26.5k look like a complete bargin!

I didn't think it was possible to make the Murano any uglier than the current model, but they did it. The air intake in the bumper has nothing to do with the grille above, it looks like a transplant from a different vehicle. And adding more chrome to the already overdone grille, I think we went back to the 1950's. Can't wait until they add the tailfins!

HAHAHAHAHA

Take some of the time, effort and detail AWAY from the the front end and apply it to the rest of the car! The front end is so overdone and the sides are some vanilla.

The front bumper consisted a mish-mash of leaf/370Z designs... and it makes the entire fascia looks even more busier... Somehow, I (quite) like it...

I like it, but I think that Nissan has an identity crisis. I mean someone should tell them that they are not Jeep to have an endless number of SUV's and that people are still waiting for the S16.

Very elegant and more Acura, Infiniti and Lexus like in stature and from a substantial and luxerious stance. Much welcomed attention to detail. Something to consider for those wanting to move from a Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator or other large 'ute.

Nice, hope we get this in Australia...

OMG!!!! Everytime... I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME they revise the front end, it gets uglier and uglier! And I love the vehicle! But come on! Stop hitting it with the ugly stick! PLEASE!!!! :-(

^ most people will not notice the subtle changes. those that do should appreciate the regal luxury vehicle look at a decent price.

All the Negative comments on a vehicle that I would assume not many of us would see based on an assumption that most of us live outside of Europe. So why hate on something you will never see in person. However... if you are reading this and you live in Europe where you WILL see it... then 1. Congrats on the Diesel engines... something we could all learn from here in North America... 2. There are FAR uglier vehicles in Europe, this is not one of them.

Some people just love to complain. I know I'm one of them! LOL

"So why hate on something you will never see in person."

First of all, it's not hate, it's called 'criticism'. Try not to confuse the two as I know MANY on this site are unable to distinguish them.

Calling it hate is a weak attempt to silence any criticism by framing it as an innate response when it clearly isn't.

And second, why can't those outside of Europe criticize this? It's posted on a site that can be accessed from any point on earth and can be freely commented upon by whomever wishes to do so.

Sounds like you're trying to stifle free speech.

i have to agree with some people here the front is so overdone and overcrowded with things its like they had an idea and decided to add it look so crapy from the front to the back and why did they rase the frekin back so high looks like it wants the other suvs out there to fuck it lol

To "hate on" something is to dislike it.
Its a figure of speech.
Slang.
Whatever you want to call it.

I CAN tell the difference between "haters" (did you understand that?) and people with an opinion.

***Wow much better with the new front grill! Now only the back end need some restyling and the tail lights. And it would be very very nice! (OPINION)

***OMG!!!! Everytime... I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME they revise the front end, it gets uglier and uglier! And I love the vehicle! But come on! Stop hitting it with the ugly stick! PLEASE!!!! (*HATER*)

But thanks for piping up and sharing your "opinion"... it is free to share after all.

Finally they make released a diesel engine option for Murano, after fuel prices hitting skies, this diesel version option will give us one more option & why they re-designing front grill....... they have to think something other options to cool the engine or else release a different totally re-designed vehicle int the market.
