Vanity plates are a great way to set your car apart from its like and at the same time, poke some fun at everyone. In this case, the owner of the orange-colored Tesla Roadster chose to make a humorous statement with a personalized license plate that reads "LOL OIL".

Oneday we will all LOL about oil, A blast from the Past.
LOL...Your battery's electricity was probably generated from guess what burning oil to produce the electricity in the first place... Idiots!!
I should get "LOL COAL" tags for my M3 for posterity sake when I roll by him at mile 151 and he's on the side of the road needing a 4 hour recharge.
I love these guys. Steve and second anonymous, hats off to you. And the funny thing 2 anon, many people are buying into this hype about electric cars but fail to really analyzes the situation at hand. They don't really think on the fact that houses are the leading cause in co2 and to add a huge electric battery that needs charging from your house just will increase the problem. This car is not a problem solver, just another issue to the problem.

Electricity can also be generated from solar energy or other alternatives. Indeed LOL OIL. Atleast its not because of him the country is going to war and killing innocents to sustain its oil needs and for which it will pay dearly in future.
If you take away the oil based plastics that were used to make the Tesla light enough for EV technology, his LOL would turn into my LMAO as his mileage gets cut in half.
- Very little electricity in the U.S. comes from oil
- Very little electricity in California comes from Coal. Even if it did, studies have shown that coal-fired plants are more efficient and thus less polluting than individual Internal Combustion Engines
- Our dependence on oil from the Middle East is arguably the biggest problem we face today.
Fuck it. Go hydro-electric and then you can't blame shit on anyone.
Exactly! People can bitch and moan and say that some portion (not counting the huge amount coming from Hydro, nuc and increasingly solar and wind) of our energy comes from fossil fuels as a reason to besmirch the whole thing. Even if 100% of all electricity came from fossil fuels and even if you account for transmission losses the electric car would still be more efficient than the use of gasoline (which has to be heavily refined, cracked and shipped all over the country). Yes, most of the energy in America goes to buildings... how in the hell does that justify wasting it elsewhere? Yes the Tesla and other cars use plastics... which are mostly derivative products from gasoline production (plastic wouldn't be so cheap if it weren't for the fact the oil is getting processed anyway), but they also have soy based plastics in the car. Once again, how does using a derivative product to increase efficiency of another degrade the usefulness of the second? Just because you can state a quick fact or two that sounds cute and witty doesn't take away from logic behind electric cars. No matter how stupid you are you have to realize that oil products will not last... why consume them faster than needed? Look at oil prices over the last few decades. Why would you take a commodity whose price so regularly increases and beats inflation and "Drill, Baby, drill" until you have no more? Even from a purely economic view would it not be best to use it more slowly, sell as much as possible and reap the benefits of our won resources. Oh, and congratulations on being total losers, it is sooooo hard to deal with a car that has a smaller range that you can't even make the better decision for your kids generation. No, that inconvenience is too much, screw the kids, screw their inheritance of a smog-free, resource-bountiful, economically-diverse and free nation. Even if you don't believe in global warming (or astronomy for that matter!) you cannot deny that fossil fuels damage the environment, that we are losing our money and our clout to oil-rich nations, and that you are in fact near-sighted schmucks.
You know, not all electricity comes from burning oils... In fact, most of california is powered by hydroelectricity from a dam in washington... Not including all the solar that they make down there too!!! And that's just California!!! (now who's the idiot?!?)
