The 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show at the Putra World Trade Centre in Malaysia saw local automaker and owner of Lotus, Proton, revealing a host of concept models including a sport prototype of the recently launched Inspira called the Jebat. Needless to say, it's clearly inspired from the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X.
As you may remember, the Inspira is a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer sedan and is the result of an OEM collaboration between the Malaysian automaker and Mitsubishi Japan. However, we're not so sure if Mitsubishi had this in mind when it was signing the agreement with Proton.
In any case, the Jebat study, which could very well lead to a similar production model, features a wide body kit with blistered wheel arches and splashes of matte black paint all around the car. Power is provided by a turbocharged 4-cylinder MiVEC engine producing 237HP (177kW) at 6,000 rpm and 343Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm.
No word if the pseudo-EVO (that does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?) comes with the real EVOs four-wheel drive system, but Proton has announced that the Jebat completes the standard 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 5.6 seconds and tops out at 232 km/h or 144 mph.

Reminds me of those crappy old cars that replace their trunks or fenders from the junk yard from a different color car.
Paint all the parts white and repost the gallery. As is, it looks lame and unfinished.
Engine from Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart ? I kinda like this one , good on look !
Ya ok it may seem odd to us americans but i bet them Malaysia dudes are creaming there jeans to have this on the road, no matter the (bad) tastes in design ! speaking of which i saw this new front end on the new 2011 Outlander today and it looked very old, not good mitsu ! ps i owned 4 mitsu products in the 80s but not no more.
Nice work on copying other people design and calling it their own. Typical Malaysian automaker. Anyway, it should be better than their supposed to be locally design products. Both Malaysian proudly claim automaker should consider what the consumer wanted, especially for the local market. The whole design, material and safety features should be better. Plus, please don't consider some 'should have been standard' safety features such as front airbags, aBs & others as additional accessories especially for the local market as not all people afford to buy higher spec models. But all that are useless as long as the govt keep pampering both proton & perodua with their current automotive industry policies. No hope for us Malaysian people to see our local automaker to produce something good and proudly called our own. Hyundai/Kia has done better..
fyi, the mitsu lancer didnt get huge support from car lovers in japan...thats why i believe mitsu didnt hesitate when Proton want to rebadge the lancer...as a result, mitsu can get the money from rebadge project...
May be its just me, but I kind'a like the two-tone paint.
Now, if this makes it to the UK with the 'EVO' motor or with at least 239Hp AWD etc, it would fire Proton into the real buyers market, not just the granny-box 'cheepo' (budget) segment it finds itself stuck in... Some nice 0% finance, free servicing with 5yr warranty and dealer assisted insurance.. What a winner.. But for fecks sake PLEASE don't call it a 'naff' name like your other UK offerings.. Savvy!
It should be called "Kosong" (emptiness in Malay)...or "Keropok" (fish crackers - traditional Malay snacks) sounds nicer...
make Malaysian drivers die faster
