Seventeen years after the great Ayrton Senna died, the documentary about his life, aptly named 'Senna', was shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival last week and was met with critical acclaim. The work of British director Asif Kapadia and screenwriter and executive producer Manish Pandey, Senna tells the story of one of the greatest drivers who ever lived exclusively through archive footage.
That means that all the great racing sequences are there, showing incredible overtaking maneuvers, spectacular crashes and some of the greatest rivalries that Formula 1 has ever seen.
According to the LA Times, the documentary not only shows Senna’s incredibly competitive personality, but also his spiritual side.
“Though he drove like the devil, he was a spiritual person who believed deeply and profoundly in a higher power. A philosophical mystic with a jewel thief's nerves and a poet's sensitivity (and good looks), Senna was an altogether remarkable human being”, the review states.
The Brazilian pilot entered the world of racing driving karts and at the height of his career he won 33 races and three Formula 1 World Championships. Senna died aged 34 in a crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
The official trailer of the Senna documentary is available below.

This is beautiful!...It's a shame that we cant see his greatsess anymore...
To be a legend is not to make the most wins, it's how you do them, it's what person you are.
It's how you are acting.
ANd he was and he will always be the number 1 legend of the greatest supersport in the World - F1
What a great film I am not missing this one.
Miss ya Senna.
The Greatest will never be forgotten. Senna 4ever.

I am not sure, where you are going with this, but Senna did not exactly have a reputation for being the nice overlord of fairness or displaying 100% integrity. His rivalry with Prost is legendary and overall he certainly was a guy, who let his emotions get the better of him on more than one occasion.
I adored Senna, watched every race back then and I was positively in shock about what happened at Imola (the whole weekend was one big nightmare for F1). But lets try to keep some things in perspective...
As for him being the Greatest...there are quite a number of legendary drivers who stand there right with him. Any kind of rating is pretty pointless in a sport, that has produced so many characters.
Thats correct, I wanted to say that his not the only legend in F1, but it's the greatest one for men and for many. Top Gear UK had a short film in 15th season (don't remember exactly which episode) where they asked a lot of current F1 drivers who is the greatest (yes there are many other, but among them) driver in F1, and all of them says no doubt Senna, even M.Schumacher himself.
Everybody has it's view, the thing is most of this views have Senna as number 1.
I saw this movie twice already and I love it!!! Senna it's precious f1 history and his legend will always live on. I am a big Michael Schumacher fan. But Senna was something different I think.
