First Details of Underground Racing’s Twin Turbocharged Ferrari 458 Italia

|

While Underground Racing admits that Ferrari has done a great job with the 458 Italia, the North Carolina-based tuner wants to spice up the Italian supercar as “something’s missing” from the stock setup. And what may that "something" be, we hear you ask? Why a turbo kit, or even better, how about two? Underground Racing will develop a Stage 1 system that will be fitted to the stock engine, while the Stage 2 conversion will be a more comprehensive update, including a custom built powerplant and force induction. More photos and videos alongside with performance numbers are said to follow soon.

I seriously hope they fixed the burning issue along with adding this, otherwise... well, it just won't be pretty.

Ferrari fixed that issue months ago when they recalled all the cars and have since changed the production method.

My comment is... that's the right way to ruin a great car and a great engine!

"that's the right way to ruin a great car and a great engine!"

By making it more powerful?

Fuckin' get your head checked.

Any idea how fast it was now after fitted with the turbo kits?

to Anon #2:
how is adding more performance to a performance oriented vehicle stupid? a ferrari is NOTHING like a honda or chevy. the engine internals of a ferrari are FORGED. forged internals are capable of handling crazy amount of boost with ease.

To those below #2:
Too much mods and bulk to the engine will make it slow down[remember the GT90?]

"“something’s missing” from the stock setup" Hahaha seems like Underground is also missing something... The rear bumper ;-)

i doubt they can pull it off...the 458 is as good as a car can be...adding turbos, forcing the enigne might ruin the handling...would be nice to see if it works...

I agree to Anon #2, that engine is a perfect match for the rest of the car. I doubt that it runs any better with 800HP.

Atm you have a high revving engine in a nimble sportscar. The Turbo'd engine will deliver a totally different feel
