The BMW 750i xDrive that was stolen during the 2011 Detroit Auto Show has been found. The $95,000 car was discovered at a gated apartment complex near Telegraph and Glendale Street, in Detroit’s West Side. Detroit police said the wires to the tracking system had been cut, but the Bimmer was probably ditched due to the massive media attention surrounding the case. Authorities seized the vehicle for further processing.
The 7-Series was used by BMW officials and guests during the press days of the Detroit motor show. Although it was a crime of opportunity, as the handler left the keys in the car and stepped away for a second, the thieves weren’t amateurs and were able to annihilate the GPS tracking device fitted to the $95,000 luxo-barge. Video report available after the break.

Inside Job
OK...First of all, RE: the "BFD" comment: sure... the tone was a bit acerbic and I like to be one who maintains an amicable tone. None the less, I'd have to say there is a significant amount of irony in the fact that a BMW was stolen in Detroit. If I had a dollar for every time that happened... Now, as for the car itself, I look at that thing and find it hard to justify the $95k price tag. And this is coming from someone who's owned quite a few BMWs over the past 20 years.
Like Honda and Toyota, [and now VW] BMW is becoming more and more bland with every revision. The truth is, unless you happen to be one of the many insecure individuals who allows what everyone else thinks, to dictate your life, why spend that kind of money when you can have an equally appointed car, with dare I say, as good, if not slightly better styling, for a fraction of the price? Heck, I'd take a Genesis over that and pocket the $50k, or blow it on a sail boat and cruise the Mediterranean or something. Maybe it's just me...
P.S. And before anyone begins talking about depreciation value of a Hyundai, have you priced a used BMW lately? My last BMW depreciated *more* in 4 years than I paid for a 2011 Sonata, and I'm more than pleased with the car, especially the payments. *Laughing all the way to the bank at the socially insecure, label-conscience suckers.*
^...Don't buy a 'New' BMW, Merc', Jag, etc., pick them up at around 50,000 miles and get them for a bargain price. Let those whose egos require a BMW(etc.), pay the upfront costs. Makes it far more affordable for those enthusiasts who appreciate and buy one for what it is, not some needy ego stroke.
While I'm a big Hyundai/Genesis fan, comparing them to the driving dynamics and feel of a BMW is a bit of a reach, especially when one compares the Sonata to a BMW. I just couldn't trade that feel for a Sonata no matter the economics involved, and I'm not rich by any stretch, I have never owned a new BMW, but I sure have enjoyed used ones.
As far as styling, my 96' 328is Coupe still draws attention, even from newer BMW drivers.
The Genesis coupe is very attractive, but the sedan, while beautifully appointed on the inside is a bit non-descript at the exterior, most people have no idea what it is. You can't say that about a BMW, or a Merc' whose marque identities are firmly fixed and evolutionary, particularly the BMW's...Not sure what the hell is up with Mercedes these days.
So sorry, not going to go from a BMW to a Sonata. That would almost be as bad as trading a Suzuki 750 GSXR for a seventies Honda 350.
Yes, because everyone that buys a BMW is socially insecure.... (rolls eyes)...apparently you must be one of those individuals as you claimed to have owned a BMW, actually you claimed to have owned many*....that's called hypocrisy...that or you were lying...

Lol at the BMW Hyundai chat.
So stupid how sometimes people bring up stupid remarks like I rather own a Sonata then BMW.
Well good for you better that you own a Hyundai then a BMW I don't need to read your blog here go face book it.
Also BMW 7 series. Drive one and see the gadgets then speak about the 95k price tag.
There's a reason why your paying 95k its all worth it but the depreciation is just bad.
acerbic? GMAB that's short for "give me a break"
"Anonymous: Why are all comments from Anonymous.."
Cause this site actually sucks and it's not worth our identities.
I'm sorry, but with someone who claims to have had such a seasoned history of BMW ownership, I find it hard to believe that a Hyundai SONATA, of all models, fit the bill afterwords.
Anybody who truly has the means on consistent basis would never makes sense of the virtues of owning a piece of crap car like a Hynudai. That only tells me that you were always living outside of your means.
owning a bmw, mercedes, etc. has a lot more to do with "making it" and affording one, wanting the bank vault built quality, ride/handling, refinement and joys of something that may set you apart from the neighbors (well, perhaps). also, there is no need to explain why one drives a bimmer. personally, i just feel right at home in one. period.
A Sonata looks better than a BMW? LMFAO. That is like comparing a home in the Hollywood Hills to living in a double wide in hicksville U.S.A. BMW's are stately and a well deserved status symbol.
Reg:, "this site actually sucks" .... If the site sucks, why are you wasting your time here? Ours too?

"BMW's are stately and a well deserved status symbol."
Except for the X6 and the 5GT; don't know what the fuck they were doing with those. X6 as a status symbol, my ass!
In the X6 and the 5GT's case, a Sonata DEFINATELY looks better.
Public Relations BMW! Bravo!
man, all these comments, the saddest thing is that the media gave this car more of a story than a missing minority child.
