For the 2012 model year, Chevrolet offers the Camaro with a host of improvements to celebrate the iconic pony car's 45th anniversary. The 3.6-liter V6 engine has been upgraded to develop 323 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, an increase of 11 horsepower over the 2011 engine while fuel consumption remains at 30 mpg (7.84 l/100 km) on the highway.
The revised engine is 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg) lighter and benefits from a thorough rework, including new cylinder head design, larger intake valves, new fuel pump and optimized-flow fuel injectors, among other changes.
2012MY Camaro SS coupes will be available with a new FE4 sport suspension, which improves handling. “We applied lessons learned from extensive track testing to better refine the suspension geometry for flatter cornering, a more neutral balance during hard turns, and minimized understeer at the limit,” says Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.
The new suspension package includes retuned front and rear dampers, new solid front (23 mm) and rear (24 mm) stabilizer bars and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
The interior revisions for the 2012 model year Camaro concern the revamped instrument panel with different graphics and trim, a new steering wheel design (which looks exactly like the one found in the Sonic…) and a power lift feature for the passenger seat.
A new added feature is the Rear Vision Package, which consists of a rearview camera system. On the outside, the 2012 Camaro gets a new rear spoiler and the RS appearance taillamps as standard.
Chevrolet will also launch a 45th Anniversary Special Edition Camaro, set to be unveiled on April 15 in Arizona at the Camaro5 Fest II. The anniversary package will be offered on the top two trim levels (2LT and 2SS), for both coupe and convertible models. Special edition Camaros carry over all the 2012 upgrades and feature a unique rally stripe in red and silver painted over the Carbon Flash Metallic paint.
Model-specific exterior details include 45th Anniversary badges on the front fenders, new 20-inch dark silver wheels, RS-style taillamp lenses, fog lamp and taillamp bezels finished in dark silver, standard rear spoiler and HID headlamps and body-color roof molding.
On the inside, the 45th anniversary Camaro features a Jet Black interior with leather upholstery, a white instrument panel and door trim inserts, red, white and blue stitching on the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, door armrests and console lid. The 45th Anniversary logo can be found on the seats, steering wheel and sill plates.

uuuuu they managed to make interior worse. I loved the retro looking muscle car steering wheel, but this ... meeh cooome oon.
Yawn, how Dull!
The interior stitching is gaudy, and the hood decal over-the-top, but I like that they are pushing the six-cylinder. Also, too many special editions are making a Camaro special editions not so special.
This car is a beauty. The steering wheel is the same as in Opel Insignia, Chevy Cruze, etc though...
Who in their right mind would consider this a beauty? It is a fat whale like most americans, big heavy and not too good at anything. It is not a smart or well engineered car, it is medicore at best. Piece of garbage rednecks who buy their designer clothes from wallmart lol would love this. If this is your dream car then wow, you are a LOSER!!!! Bring this to a track and a 370Z will run laps around it, so would most Subarus lol!
A American revolution LOL
Ahmed
Camels love your mother
Ahmem, what cars are built in arab countries? Used Toyota pick-up trucks?
In the contrary, I'm european and I think this generation of Camaro is one of the most succesful american cars in incorporating European cues in the design and having a broad apeal. Plus the pricing is very competitive, you are getting a VW Golf or something for that kind of money over here. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
European cues????? not sure what you mean by that this is 100% American muscles budy, none of that wimpy euro crap here! Not like anyone looks up to europeans any more, look at VW AUDI they are jokes now. And Ahmed you and your race will all rot in hell, one day your people will go too far and we here in the land of freedom will destroy you!
We are not weak sissies like the europeans who bown down to your race giving them housing, welfare, healthcare allowing them to practice Sharia law and destroy all that the white man has created. We will not stand for that and let your people turn the world back to the middle ages you barbarians!!
We will destroy you tomahawk by tomahawk!
do judge the book by its cover, very nice cover indeed, not so good reading material.
I think intelligent car fans would rather prefer comparing cars with the same price and performance than this new pony instead of talking about races and "tomahawks".
Many people believe that the human knowledge was produced by their race and in their country however most of the time this is not true however they keep satisfied thinking this way.
See... Ahmed...quite right. At least camels love his mama but not the neighbour guy who has his eye on ur mom in your country. You have accept the bitter fact. So you Americans bite the bullet and umm.. break your teeth...lol..lol.
BALDEMAR.
Ahmed & Baldemar represent the ignorant present in all countries.
So called humanity will always heave them to deal with. They were failed somewhere along the line or are genetically predisposed to this kind of non-think and hate. Just cause they look human, doesn't mean they are.
CARSCOOP/ John should exercise the 'Delete' option and not post this kind of comment.
I would hope by now that CARSCOOP was secure enough that they would feel safe in not posting these comments with out fear of losing readers/visits. I personal don't visit(CARSCOOP) that often anymore because of the xenophobic, sexist, immature, etc. comments.

Not only certain elements but the entire American media is strongly Xenophobic, repugnantly xenophobic. Xenophobic is an under the understatement. The Media, corporates, Govt., are Jealous, insecure and COLD.
Well, they make a large part of our society and thats bad news for us in the long run.
I'm 6' 1" tall and still with my height I couldn't see back well enough to drive backwards to park the car. The feeling of sitting in a cave looking out of tiny windows came to mind. That and the overall driving experience led me to purchase the Mustang instead.
Admed you are such a dumbass. Grow up and stop acting like a mental unstable child. Ofcause your bad spelling might be a clue to your real age.
I agree with you, these comments should be about cars only- however, your post has spelling errors too.
Will Ford up the ante?
323hp and 30mpg highway? What's not to like?
Her body seems somewhat hefty for torque of V6 unit.
What's so American about an Australian designed car based on the VE Commodore?
Because, you know, that's what a Camaro is, a Holden designed Chev from Downunder... As reported here many times.
It's made in the US, though. Is that all you need to be "American muscle"? So a Toyota Camry, also made in US... naah... not going there :)
Where's the navigation screen and auto climate control even the cruze has those features!
The people that say bad stuff about the Camaro.Don't have a clue. And they don't have one.Love my 2011.It drives like a dream. Its bad ass
