2012 VW Beetle Configurator Goes Live, Plus New Photo Gallery

|

Dreaming of a new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle? Well, if you live in Europe or North America, you’ll have to wait until this October and September respectively to grab one, but for those of you in a hurry to see what your 2012 Beetle could look like, VW’s configurator is available for everyone to play with on the firm’s German website. Unfortunately though, at the time, the options are limited to a choice of exterior colors and alloy wheel designs.

In addition to the news on the configurator, we’ve also found a fresh batch of photos of the latest generation of the Beetle, which you can ogle on in the gallery after the break. For more details on VW’s newcomer, check out our previous post here.

I'll hold off on my judgement of the styling until I see one on the road, but it has lost something at the front. The rear looks like the back end of the proposed Bugatti sedan.

It also seems to have the worlds larges fuel gauge...

definitely not as cute as was before--which is a good thing and bad thing. nice detail lines around side windows, but it looks "old-ish" and "regular-car-ish", rather than a retro-modern-take of a classic. less niche marketing may now appeal to a wider range of buyers.

note, that vw have presented it's in the eve of adolf hitler's birthday date, who was behind the creation of the original Kdf-wagen/beetle concept

Keeps on getting bigger which doesn't look cozy and practical anymore,
VW should have used the Polo's running gear instead of the Golf's one.

This version looks more like the original Beetle that Hitler designed.

Not a big fan of the first 'new' Beetle yet this one is a massive improvement, especially looking so good in red and WITHOUT alloys.
Sure that mister Hitler did many things, and instigated the first Beetles development, however he was far too busy with one thing and another to sit down and design that car; leave that evil dictator out of it, it's a tired argument.

The car looks amazing. I can't wait to buy it when it comes into market. It really is a step forward, compared to the old "New Beetle", which was not as cute as the original. I think that Volkswagen made a perfect job with the new Beetle generation.

By the way, Hitler didn't design any car. Ferdinand Porsche designed the original Beetle and only Hitler gave him funds and possibilities for its production.
