Citroen Reveals Family-Sized DS5 Crossover ahead of Shanghai Premiere

|

Citroen has officially dropped photos and information on its all-new DS5, which is the latest addition to its DS sub-brand and the largest one yet. Measuring 4.52 meters in length, 1.50 meters in height and 1.85 m in width, the DS5 sits between the C4 and the C5 in Citroen's range, with the company describing the car as an alternative to the more conventional C5 with a higher ground clearance, more refined interior and a crossover shape.

The DS5 can accommodate five passengers and their luggage, as boot volume sits at 465 liters. Although Citroen says the car's styling is inspired by the C-SportLounge concept car, the DS5 could also be described as a bigger version of the DS4. Its lines are a mix of the DS4 hatchback and the C-SportLounge crossover.

The car features elements found on the other DS models, including the LED headlamps and the extensive use of chrome. Inside, the DS5 sports a stylish ambiance thanks to the combination of leather, wood and aluminum trim. The flat-bottomed steering wheel, the driver-oriented central console and the special Bracelet seats also contribute to an elegant environment.

The DS5 will be the first Citroen to use PSA Group's Hybrid4 drivetrain, which pairs a diesel engine with an electric motor offering a total of 200 horsepower and the advantage of four-wheel drive. The full-hybrid diesel technology will allow for electric-only urban driving and the possibility of temporary boosts of power when needed. The car's CO2 emissions are rated at only 99 g/km.

The Citroen DS5 will be produced in France and is set to arrive in European showrooms at the end of 2011. It will be sold in other markets as well, with first deliveries in China scheduled for 2012. The car will receive its first public outing in Shanghai in show trim featuring special 20-inch wheels, pearlescent gray body color and other enhancements.

Wow. What a beautiful car. Full of fantastic details like de chrome bar that runs from de front headlight to the A-pillar. It's a massive step forward from the C4 design.

Just hope they built it and since i'm asking just build the Metropolis concept as well.

Very, very good this one!

We all laughted at Citroen manager/Ceo (don't remember) when he said Citroen will be a top brand in the next few years. It all started with the c5 than c3 ds3 ds4 and now this.I surely now know what he ment and now I'm starting to believe.I've always liked Citroens but now - I love them.

I am quite frankly sick of seeing affordable cars that look this good that don't make it state side. Look here, we buy your fries and your champagne. And every now and then we manage to convince your fine female specimens to change their allegiance. So why the heck can't we get Citroen to import to the US.

To Musti Seymore,
Your posting may be a clue.

Stunning car, beautiful interior! I guess Citroën is definately back to modern individuality. Well done. Depending on the price, my 1987 Citorën CX 25 TRD Turbo could get some new company in the garage :)

Stunning design...both the exterior and the interior. The finishing looks superb in pictures. Curious about would it be as good in real life. Such a shame that we wouldn't have it here in the U.S.

guys, musti was giving a compliment (sick of seeing...) via a joke.

america doesn't get many european cars like the citroen. 'wish they would make them to usa safety codes and import all the cools cars europe has that we don't.

How about you google Citroen C-Sportlounge bud? You'll notie the concept was out in 2005 that's 6 years ago, and tell me what Hyundai model/concept had the chrome piece you are referrening to, that is also dated 2005 or earlier ... only then will I agree with you on the ripoff statement!

Looks like a knockoff VW Scirocco.

This has to be one of the best car interiors of all cars, ever, regardless size and price. Not so keen on the exterior but who cares when it looks so good inside?

Agree..one of the best interiors available - regardless of segment. Bring Citroen & Peugeot to the US.

Hi, I'm french, and 10 years ago if you'd said that you had a citroen ( BX, visa, xsara, xantia and other crap ) you'd received jokes or ... stones !
Today it is saling more DS3s than Minis ( 26 000 out of 18 000 ) !!!!!
The Citroen production is stylish, affordable and, can you beleive that, cool !
Renault has failed twice in entering the US market by the past. You are right Musti Seymore, Citroen could make the difference !

they don't import to the U.S.A because of the cost of approval, the state that has the highest, strictest standard is California, I can't even bring my Jeep from Nevada to California because of shock modification and emission issue.

I miss the Hydractive susspension. So i hope the Break-Version is constructed wiht hydraulic-susspension. (like C5 and C6)

Ich vermisse die Hydractiv-Federung. Aber ich hoffe in einer zukünftigen Kombi-Version wird ein Hydraulisches Fahrwerk eingebaut. (analog C5 und C6)
