Chrysler Hires NFL Rookie of the Year for New ‘Imported from Detroit’ Campaign

|

Unless you’re a fan of the NFL, chances are you’ve never heard of the new face of Chrysler’s ‘Imported from Detroit’ campaign, Ndamukong Suh. For those of you whom the name doesn’t ring a bell, Suh is a young football player who was recently named Defensive Rookie of the Year. In the summer of 2010, the 24-year old signed a five-year contract with the Detroit Lions worth $68,000,000 with $40,000,000 guaranteed – no, we got the zeros right….

Even though the Ford family is signing his checks, Suh is the star of Chrysler’s latest ‘Detroit’ ad for the new 300 sedan titled “Homecoming”. The commercial plays up the values of humble beginnings and hard work ethics with Suh putting up a face that makes you ask “why so serious?” Hit the break to watch the advert.

Oh great, another rich athlete who hasn't worked a single day in his life and suddenly gets a multimillion contract talking about "humble beginnings and hard work ethics".

Give me a break Chrysler. If you really want to show what Detroit is all about, how about using some of the workers from your plants?

NFL players have to find work elsewhere, anyhow.

Great ad. Don't you have laws in the U.S.A. regaurding truth in advertising.

The 2011 300 is built in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. by proud Canadian workers.

The spokesperson should be Wayne Gretsky. The car is built in Canada.

When he was done shooting the commercial, did he drive away in his Range Rover, Escalade or Mercedes?

You have a misprint. " IMPORTED TO DETROIT"

Ndamukong Suh and Nebraska Football for the win.

You got it all wrong guys!!!.... this is the car he RENTED on the way to Detroit lol

Here are some - more credible - commercial ideas Chrysler should consider...

"I'm Ndamukong Suh of the Detorit Lions and when I'm out of town on an away game, I like to roll in a 300...from Hertz rentacar"

"I'm Eminem, washed up rapper and recovering drug addict. When I'm out scoring some hoes, I choose to roll in my 200 'cause...have you seen the price of gas these days???"

Congratulations on winning Carscoop's Ignorant Statement of the Day award.

I can describe the new Pentastar V6 and faster yet HEMI V8 powered Chrysler's as athletic, not unlike an NFL player. Image sells. Good move, Chrysler :)

my very fav 300 is the all new "s" model shown in nyc. man! that car and the super white '12 srt-8 (w/ 6.4 liter hemi v8) drew car fans to their area unlike many other new vehicles. the latest ads go along perfectly with these awesome cars. score another for chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram and fiat. nice going in ny, btw!

umm... you topped that. everyone is entitled to their opinion. yes. even you. enough slamming others already

Football fans like myself and women should be attracted to both car and players -- for very different readers. Nice commercials!

IMPORTED FROM DETROIT

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMPORTED FROM CANADA

I guess truth in USA adverising is not important.

"no one gives a damn about your opinion. learn to respect others."

Irony AND hypocracy.

The car in this ad is built in Canada trucked to Windsor Ontario Canada and then north to Detroit.

Anonymous said... »May 08, 2011

The ad didn't SAY a single word about Detroit and the 300; we just made the (wrong) assumption they the 300 is Imported from Detroit; why the ending of the ad said should be understood as Chrysler Imported from Detroit and not a specific model.

Long live Canada though ;)

Now with the "imported from Detroit but actually built in Canada" Chryslers, we have even more reasons to nuke Canada (as if Bryan Adams and Celine Dion weren't enough). Seriously, ANY country that builds Chryslers should be nuked.

Why is it that it's only someone STILL poor that can be considered someone who's worked hard their whole life and came from humble beginnings? Suh has worked very hard to get where he is.

@ nuke Canada

You ass holes lost the war of 1812 against Canada and now your want to go back for more. Name a war you won without help other than the American civil
