Since its introduction in late 2010, Ford’s new 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine has proven to be a hit with European consumers having sold more than 50,000 units. The engine, which is manufactured in Ford’s UK Bridgend plant, is available in six different models (Focus, Mondeo, C-MAX, Grand C-MAX, S-MAX and Galaxy). The company attributes its success to its blend of performance, economy and low CO2 emissions.
As an example Ford gives the new Focus with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, which accelerates to 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds, reaches a top speed of 138 mph (222 km/h), has an average consumption of just 47.1 mpg (6.0 lt/100 km) and emits only 139g/km of CO2.
The powertrain’s features include a start-stop system, Ti-VCT variable valve timing, active grille shutter and an “intelligent” engine management system that monitors all functions of the engine at a rate of one million times per second.

Sorry but regarding to all the models on witch this engine is installed, and some of those models are quite popular, 50 000 engines in more than 6 month is "relatively" a small number.
Why isn't this engine sold in USA?
Ford, bring new EcoBoost to Russia! We wait iT!
Carscoop, is the 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds correct? Some of Fords European websites suggest a 8.6 second time?
Anon# That's what Ford says - see the press clipping below:
"Despite its relatively small capacity, the 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine delivers impressive performance. The Focus can reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill in 7.9 seconds, achieve a top speed of 222km/h (138mph) and return an excellent combined fuel consumption of 6l/100km (47.1mpg"
7.9 seconds in the 180hp engine and 8.6 with 150hp
^ The above confusion steams from the fact that the 180bhp 1.6T Focus isn't universally available for sale across every European market (Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, UK). At least not yet anyway.
I have purchased the new Focus 1.6 ecoboost 180hp. Regards a happy man from Oslo, Norway :)
