Not to be outdone by rival Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) unleashed its first-ever concept car at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne.
Unlike HSV and its Black Edition Clubsport and Maloo R8s, FPV went for an all-blacked out look for its bespoke GT muscle car, which is based on the local market, rear-wheel drive Falcon sedan.
Its sinister looks come courtesy of a Silhouette black paintwork combined with a unique matte finish stripe package on the bonnet, rear wing, bodysides and the rear diffuser. The same paint treatment is carried over on the 19-inch one-piece forged alloy rims shod in special Dunlop SP Sportmaxx GT tires.
In addition, the Australian sports sedan gains large brake ducts incorporated into the modified front facia, while black framing has been used to enhance the rear light graphics treatment..
The all-black theme continues behind the smoked windows with black leather trim throughout and an all-black dash treatment that includes the interior command centre (ICC).
Under the sheetmetal, there's a track-tuned suspension specification and a full stainless steel high-flow twin exhaust system exhaust finished with quad black exhaust tips. Furthermore, the performance brake package includes larger six-piston brake calipers up front and four-piston brake calipers at the rear, which are both also finished in black.
Power comes in the form of the FPV GT’s supercharged 5.0-liter Boss V8 churning out 335kW (449-horses) and 570Nm (420.4 lb-ft) of peak torque.
Even though the sinister looking FPV GT is a one-off show car, Ford Performance Vehicles General Manager Rod Barrett said that the company will gauge public opinion at the show.

A modern day Mad Maxmobile.
That car is sick...
And it makes me sick that it isn't offered in the US.
FORD BRING IT TO AMERICA
Why do manufacture's never bring their coolest cars to America?
This car should be the U.S. version of the Ford Taurus SHO. For reals.
Nice where can I get mine, you aussie get all the fun always.
have u seen the chopper video? and u still ask why don't they bring them to america????
Looks much classier than it's hometown rival.
To the annoying 'bring it to america' posters. Who has millions of dollars to give to Ford Australia so they can re-engineer the car for your market and to make it competitive in the wake of higher-quality alternatives?
It may look cool but it was still developed on a budget less than half of many other cars from Europe and America.
It's FPV not FVP.
To answer the above questions, Ford will not sell it in the US because it isn't technically a Ford built car. Think of it like Brabus for Merc. The car is a standard Ford model, which FPV, an Aussie tuner, has got their hands on and created their own version. Look on the Ford Australia website, no where will it mention the GT.
And FFS... It's not FVP like written throughout the article, its FPV! Ford Performance Vehicles, not Ford Vehicles Performance! lol :P
Front Lights look like Civic Rip- Awff. and it can only go straight. I prefer a train.
Uber-sweet! This would be great competition for Chrysler's SRT8 sedans here in the 'States. And get GM to import the Holdens again and I think my checking account would have a serious overdraft problem!
I am in Aussie and give me the HSV...
both about the same price $80K...Not cheap
like in the USA...$35-40K V8's
Lol you must be getting the 'cheap' HSV then, cause I've seen pricetags on those go into the $90k range and the falcon makes more power. Also, haven't seen the new HSV E3 dip into the 12s on the strip yet?
It would be awesome if Ford sold it in the States (and China!) then there might be some hope of our beloved Falcon not felling the axe come 2016, American ford lovers, if you really love the GT, get a petition started, show Detroit just how much you love it, and you never know, stranger things have happened (like the Holden-Pontiac GTO)!
If this bogan-mobile is the way forward, then the axe cannot come soon enough for the Falcon.
"It may look cool but it was still developed on a budget less than half of many other cars from Europe and America. "
Not really, as far as America is concerned. And put the Falcon next to a European high-performance car, and its not hard to see, that for half the money you also get half a car (with twice the fuel consumption).
But then again, the European ones are actually meant to be driven on real roads, not strips, where all that matter is going straight for a couple of seconds.
Not bad, nice car!
Front looks Civic.
Here are Copies of a few letters I emailed Ford about how to improve the Falcon and make it a global car:
4WD Falcon Sedan,Ute And Territory
Make an optional 4wd version of the 2011 Falcon sedan and Ute version too-use the 4wd version that is used in the 2011 territory. That would Make the Falcon sedan and Ute good for all weather driving.
It should be quite simple to use the 4 Wheel drive version of the Territory platform for a 4 wheel drive version of the current Falcon Sedan and Ute version-The territory is built on the Falcon platform and uses a 4wd version of it!
Cost-Time and cost to design the modification of sedan and ute version to accomodate 4wd option.
Here is evidence of a market for full size rear drive with optional 4wd sedans.Competition:Buyers of these vehicles are potential Ford customers: Full size BMW's,Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger,Caddilacs,Mercedes,Jaguar,Porche,Lexus Toyota,Nissan Infiniti,Ferrari,Hyundai Genesis and Equus etc.
Having the Falcon sedan and ute. version with optional 4wd for all weather driving would also make them great sellers in North America as 2012 models Crown Victoria/Town Car and Ranger Pickup Truck.

Mustang/Falcon Exchange For 2012
Retrofit v6 Falcon with Mustang v6 in exchange for I4 as base model Mustang engine.
It is to my understanding that Ford plans to make the Mustang into a global car. Here is a way to do that and do the same thing with the Australian built Falcon-Exchange them! The exchange would be build a Crown Victoria/Town Car as a left hand drive version of the Falcon and Ranger Pickup truck as a left hand drive "Falconranger"which is how I describe the Falcon Ute possibly at the St.Thomas plant that is slated to close and/or at the factory that makes the 2011 Ranger Pickup truck.
Build right hand drive version of Mustang at some Australian factory.Give Falcon Duratech v6 engine from Mustang in exchange for soon to come Ecoboost I4 for improved Power and Fuel economy.
Cost-cost of retooling St.Thomas and/or Ranger factory in North America and retooling, building or expanding a factory in Australia.would eliminate cost of left/right hand drive conversion and cost of intercontinental delivery.

Mustang/Falcon V6 Exchange For 2012
Use the Liquid Petroleum Injection I6 engine from the Falcon in the Mustang in exchange for the Duratech v6 as the gasoline version to replace the cast iron gasoline version of the current I6 in the Falcon.
Mustang gets the optional 265 hp 302 lbft (409 nm) torque liquid petroleum injection engine while the Falcon gets the duratech v6 as the gasoline version.
The v6 Falcon gets improved fuel economy, power, and improved weight distribution, and reduced production cost by junking the cast iron gasoline engine.
The LPG version of the Mustang while having slightly more frontal mass, would benifit by having the same refueling cost 'per litre/gallon' as the Lpg powered Falcon making both cars great for global production.Falcons and Mustangs with the optional LPG engine would also be great sellers in North America as 2012 Crown Victoria/Town Car and probably even better in Europe as resurrected Scorpio where gas prices are the highest. Both LPG opitonal engined cars can actually benefit from the high gas prices!
There are ways to get one here in the US...look at the manner Noble and other boutique manufacturers get there cars here to US consumers.
