A Mercedes-Benz driver has smashed the world record for the longest car drift at a company event in Surrey, UK. Mauro Calo, who works at the Mercedes-Benz World venue providing driving experiences to guests and entertaining crowds with precision driving skills, powerslided a C63 AMG sports sedan for a distance of 2,308 metres or 1.44 miles, beating the previous record by 394 metres or a quarter of a mile.
The German brand’s demo driver completed almost eight tire-burning laps at the Mercedes-Benz World’s Handling Circuit.
Commenting on Calo’s achievement, Andrew Mallery, Commercial Operations Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: “When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support. He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim”.

ken block can do this all day long~
Hey buddy, time to turn on your traction control!
This isn't as epic as any of the Gymkhana videos. In all honesty, the only thing really limiting this is the life of the tires under heavy drifting.
This is so much of aa shame for us humans, while the children of Africa are dieing we are here wasting resources (gas and tires) for stupidity
"This is so much of aa shame for us humans, while the children of Africa are dieing we are here wasting resources (gas and tires) for stupidity"
So by that reasoning we're not allowing to watch any motorsport either?
the annoying record should go to Mauro Calo, but that was not as annoying as the idiot who stood in the middle of the circle. what the hell was his purpose. I had to stop the video after 2 cirlces because of that idiot.
Mercedes, the original, the only one!
"So by that reasoning we're not allowing to watch any motorsport either?"
Drifting isn't even a motorsport. It's just a subjective guessing game for unqualified 'judges' to get paid off by the sponsors just to sit on their fat asses and say 'oh, that looked artistic and skillful'.
Motorsports have finish lines to determine winners.
Drifting has a yelling crowd to determine a 'winner'.
If you object to such activity, why are you even on a car blog? There's a reason it's a car blog - it covers car related stories, wether it be 1000 bhp super cars or Eco hatchbacks.
It's utterly stupid to read about African children on a story about drifting.
You've obviously got a conscience, now get a grip.
And thanks for bringing up Ken Block in an unrelated video. Too bad he can't win races. All showpony.
And what about Jumping over trucks and and monster truck shows, jet trucks.... our country needs to survive..not go down the oil drain.
"If you object to such activity, why are you even on a car blog?"
Because I love cars, not redneck sports like drifting where someone can win by having the crowd yell the loudesst.
