General Motors is trying to squeeze every ounce of publicity out its association with the makers of the third Transformers movie, called Dark of the Moon, which opens exclusively in 3D Tuesday and worldwide Wednesday.
Aside from having an army of cars featured in the film, the Detroit automaker is also launching yet another limited edition Camaro model based on the Autobot “Bumblebee” character.
The 2012 Camaro Transformers Special Edition will be offered as a $3,000 package on 2LT and 2SS Camaro Coupes with Rally Yellow paint. Along with the content provided in the RS package, the Transformers edition adds bespoke black rally stripes that cover the hood, roof, decklid and the unique rear spoiler.
A set of 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black and wrapped in high-performance summer tires along with some cheesy Autobot Shield logos on the center caps and front quarter panels, complete the exterior changes.
As an option, GM will offer 21-inch, black-painted wheels and a black ground-effects package.
Inside, the Transformers edition Camaro’s interior is trimmed in black leather with yellow stitching on the instrument panel, center console, armrests and seats, while Autobot Shield logos are embroidered on the front headrests, as well as the center console lid.
GM believes the linkage with Transformers has helped boost sales and build the Camaro brand, especially with young buyers.
“The Transformers franchise has helped introduce Camaro – and Chevrolet – to a whole new generation of fans,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Its role in the films helped make the Camaro the best-selling sports car in America, and one of the best-known cars of any kind around the world.”
GM will open the order books on the 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro in July, with vehicles arriving at U.S. and Canadian showrooms in September.

A car every 10 year old boy wants, and some men with the intelligence of a 10 year old!
I would be embarrassed to drive this car.
^^^^^because you're a loser, that's why. This is a nice car
^^^^^ haha yes im sure its a nice car, if you own one at a trailer park you have it made!
Anon 2, i'm a loser why? because I have established taste? Go on keep drinking your Budweiser and smoking your Marlboros you sophisticated, educated, established gentleman.
This car is as redneck as they come.
all you american hating losers
this car is one of the best ever made
the price is not to expansive, lots of power, looks like a real mans car not like those girly european cars.
Im buying one and hands down for the price its a steal, real head turner and girls love it too, not like you euro driving losers care about that,
Love the yelow as it will match my H2, this will destroy anything else in its price range
America = musle, strenght, power, balls
^^ Translation "Hey Ma, cracks open some more Lucky, we're driving puurrddy today"
American cars are underpowered and heavy. A 370Z would kill a Camaro. Only American muscle car I'd want is a 'Vette.
Cameros are for women dude. Men buy corvettes!
lets state fact...jaguars have horrible quality and fall apart quickly while Aston Rapide's can't even make it off the showroom floor.
The MP4-12C is a great car but the 458 Italia (barely) outperforms it.
I don't even like American cars that much but British cars aren't much better.
Kindergarten is in session
British cars are as reliable as my philandering uncle.
i agree with 1st comment...its childish...all these special editions are just marketing plots...
i like this version of the camaro. it looks like a gt car. and as for the 370z out performing it. look at the stats my friend. the 370 barely out performs it. but the version of the 370 that you'd need is around 35k vs the camaro at 22k. sorry the price can't justify it. and I BEG YOUR PARDON YOU IDIOT!!! just cause some people can show more intellegence than you does not mean they are inbreed. this is about the car not your ignorance. please keep on subject. if you don't like a car just say so. don't make fun of the people of west virgina like that. where stuff like that is legal.
My HOT WHEELS!
That's such a distinct look- no way you'd lose this one in a parking lot. I've been reading about the Camaro on the Johnny Londoff Chevrolet blog and I can't wait to see what else Chevy does in the future.
My kid wanted to play with yellow toy but i had a tough time explaining it was too big.
