Circulating around the internet today is an official photograph of the 2012 Honda CR-V Concept that previews the production model that is scheduled to follow by the end of the year.
In June, Honda had announced that it would present a new generation of its popular compact crossover model; however, the Japanese company had not disclosed any specific details on the vehicle other than it would sport a "new design inside and out, new features and new possibilities".
As with the recent Civic concepts, the CR-V show car seen here is very close to the actual production model. Just don't expect to see the concept's more dramatic elements such as the dark headlamp crystals, small exterior mirrors, large alloy wheels and the contrasting lower trim in a black finish.
The inner works of the fourth-generation CR-V remain a mystery for now though it's a pretty safe bet to assume that it will be offered with both front- and four-wheel drive configurations, as well as four-cylinder gasoline engine (in North America) linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
We’ll have more comprehensive details on the 2012 Honda CR-V in the next few days.

The styling is a big improvement, but I think the styling of the Chevy Equinox is better.
looks like a kia to me
Yikes. I really don't like the blacked-out headlights or the two tone paint scheme.
It doesn't look much better than the current one!! failed!!
Ugly as S..t!
I have never been a fan of the CR-V, and I have always thought the current model was a little grotesque, however I do see this as a MAJOR improvement. Would I buy one NO! In a sea of small compact crossovers there are so many more stylish options than this. However, I am sure Honda loyalists will embrace the 2012 CR-V. This does look better as I said, now Honda just needs to try to work on the rest of their line up.
Being that this is a concept, I doubt the blacked-out headlights and paint scheme will make production
Hmm...I guess Honda has finally reached that point where their designs will start/continue to hurt their sales.
Case in point: the current gen Accord. It was so ugly, Toyota did not bother spending the money to do a significant refresh on the Camry. A 2007 Camry looks almost exactly like the 2011, sans the LED tail-lights. Same for the Highlander versus Pilot and Corolla versus Civic. Toyota outright did not bother with a new Corolla once it saw the Civic. Either way the Chevy Cruze looks the best.
The CrossTour was a design failure despite the clever utility; most would rather have a Venza, and both were gunning for the BMW 5GT. Toyota Venza won out right.
Frugality aside, folks who bought Hondas bought them because the design was simple (easy to add body kits) and easy on the eyes. Now they are complicated and almost ugly. Not sure what will help Honda, but these designs need help.
Acura is in the same boat...so sad!
I love it. It's original looking but still keeps a family resemblance with the 2 previous iterations.
Really like what they've done to the rear side profile which also reminds me of what Nissan did to the 2nd generation X-Trail but without the Honda looking like a copy.
Well done !
looks like a Sportage ..... but ugly ver.
where i can buy with fr-v cocpit and thrd back odyssey or a pilot?
Looks goods. But i think the sales version will look much better.
OMG, that is HORRENDOUS! Honda just keeps getting worse......
I love them Hondas.
It looks taller, roomier and certainly rugged. It will be an enormous hit for Honda, just like the current pre-12MY CR-V, but I predict even more so with a huge dose of testosterone to attract not only single women and mothers of small families, but men, too... single guys, fathers, me (a Jeep guy)! Cool, Honda!!!
Any car this days look like some other car.chevy equinox might look better but its not honda quality.I go for honda any day.
I LIKE IS VERY NICE CRV 2012
The old version looks uninspired and whimpy. The 2012 looks like it would kick someone's ass.
Is like Kia Sportage!!!
It's OK
Looks too long...not as bad as the lumbering-limo-length Equinox...but still too long.
The front end, however, is a HUGE improvement over the current generation - no doubt at all.
I wish they could give it a bit more power. I've read they are going to be putting a new 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with about 200 horses, but a V6 version would be nice in my opinion.
