2012 Toyota Camry Revealed in Leaked Presentation Video?

|

Last week, we told you about Toyota’s national dealer meeting in Las Vegas where the company briefed its associates on the firm’s current and future plans which include the launch of the all-new 2012 Camry sedan.

It appears though that the Japanese company did a bit more than simply brief its dealers on its plans as a video allegedly showing the presentation of the new Camry has made its way on the internet.

While we can’t be 100 percent sure that what we’re seeing in this amateur footage is the new Camry but given that the color of one of the vehicles depicted in the clip as well as the background seem to match the official video showing Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) President Akio Toyoda standing next to the 2012MY mid-size sedan, we wouldn’t be surprised if it is the real thing.

Toyota said it will launch the next generation of the Camry in both standard and hybrid formats this fall.

“Four all-new models will arrive before the end of the year. Leading the way, as we announced earlier this week, will be the all-new Camry and Camry Hybrid,” said Don Esmond, TMS senior vice president for automotive operations in a conference call on July1.

“[The] Camry will usher in a new level of product excellence for the Toyota brand, designed to meet the changing needs of the 21st Century driver. The new Camry will provide technologically advanced features, a contemporary design inside and out, improved performance and refined ride and handling,”

The Japanese company’s President Akio Toyoda had previously revealed that along with the Prius V minivan, the Camry will be among the first Toyota models to gain the brand’s new Entune system which will “feature simple, seamless functionality and is compatible with virtually every smart phone”.

Stay tuned for more details over the next few weeks.

Still boring. Maybe Toyota needs to get themselves some European designers like Hyundai/Kia did.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

"The Japanese company said that the next generation of its best-selling model will move away from the conservative designs of the past."

Really?

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

It is just a refreshed MY 11 model. Nothing to get excited about or white home about.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

I think that is just a 2011 model.I hope that IS not this 12 Toyota has hyped up, if so wow what a disappointment

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

wopw looks nice. I like the update on the 2011.

RDS said... »July 04, 2011

Not as good as I thought , it's looks like Legacy on tail ... but I still love it !

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

Gorgeous chiseled front end and nicely sculpted back. Another guaranteed winner!

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

far more youthful

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

Not too conservative or radical. The 12MY Camry will age better than the too swoopy midsize Kia and Hyundai sedans. All these cars and the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion look good, but the Camry and Accord are classier and much richer.

The Video is like Toyota cars....BORING

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

Slow news day I guess...

Boring but the lemmings and sheep don't know the difference.

Will only look good when the gas pedal sticks to the floor.....again.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

AWESOME! Like the all new lines and more luxurious rear (especially the tapering and taillights) and sportier front end

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

not the best video, but the car is fantastic!!!

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

Looks like a Lexus :)

I am very impressed and hope to by a Hybrid version...

Toyota, I will be back!

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

getting kinda sick of the excessively styled sonata and optima. the '12 camry looks higher class than these too cars.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

Toyota won't need a 10 yr./10,000 mile warranty to move the 2012MT Camry. Breathtaking. Hope to see the new interior! ASAP

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

nice find carscoop... nice holiday surprise... the three cars in: red, white and blue are perfect for our u.s. independence day. the camry is our country's best selling car and is the vehicle with the most american content! i am damn proud of toyota and will put a deposit down when the '12 car is made available.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

a close look and you can see what i think is the "se" version in the middle. love the front lights and round fog lamps. the best is the grille, followed by the rear, with the side profile a close second.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

I hope Toyota brings back the Camry Coupe (Solara) and Wagon!

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

I like the nicely sculpted front-end. There is a hint of Acura and a bit of classic Pontiac up front. It looks like another REAL WINNER! Toyota should work on the more sedate Corolla next. It has gotten a lot of mileage out of the smaller sedan and even the Camry, but the Camry has aged gracefully. Still, the new one is the perfect "new look" of Camry; of Toyota. Kudos.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

i agree with the vast majority of your posters. you see, i am new to your site. a buddy called me to check out the video. i have a new kia optima. i like it, but the quality is not up to what it should be. the toyota looks like it could sway me into a camry.

carscoop rocks!

Many Americans like boring cars that is why the Camry does so well. Why change it too much if it isn't broken?

MattJ said... »July 04, 2011

Still some people don't know how to film with an iPhone.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

^^^^^^ best selling car in US is Ford F 150 by far...

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

"Many Americans like boring cars that is why the Camry does so well. Why change it too much if it isn't broken?"

yes. and no. i disagree with the "boring statement" regarding the camry as being a boring vehicle. it is practical, nicely styled, sporty-luxurious, spirited and comfortable... nothing boring... predictable, maybe. now, looking at the aged chevrolet impala and i agree with the boring comment. so right about "if it ain't broken..." that makes perfect sense.

it is time for a new camry. this one excites me. my grandparents would love the 2011, as million others do. me? i am an altima, maxima, optima kinda guy, so i think toyota will be thrilled to know that they are winning younger guys over.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

will keep a look out for more footage and report any findings. yes, to the dude asking for interior pics. i will keep ck'n in.

Anonymous said... »July 04, 2011

...and I STILL think the sonata/optima looks better..just sayin...

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

LOL! Bud, the Camry has been over rated and all indications show it will continue to be so. Posting 15 plus comments saying how amazing it is isn't going to fool anyone. If anything it shows your desperation. No thanks Toyota, your marketing BS isn't fooling me.

".... will move away from the conservative designs of the past."

Sell your BS to someone else.

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

Toyota as they have for the last few years has miss the mark on this Camry if it is indeed the 2012 model for the USA market.

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

OMG you mean this is the redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry ??????? That ain't nothing but a warmed over 2011 Camry with minor styling updates!!!!!

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

I personally do not see many new Camry models on the road, at least not like the older models that were built to last more then 4 years. I guess that is why we don't see many of the Camry cars from the last few years that have sold then broke down as fast or are waiting on all those massive amounts of recalls Toyota try to hide from the buying public

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

Hum Toyota must have their employees busy working this web site to blow it up with praises . what a turd this car is , I will take a 11 Hyundai sonata with modern updated very handsome styling and fuel efficient engines over the turd updated design we see here with a V6 engine that is not a fuel efficient engine.

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

To the poster who wrote that the Hyundai Sonata and KIA Optima are over styled. I disagree with you whole heartily because if that was the case, both hyundai and kia would not be selling them at a rate that over shadows their last models of the sonata and optima, But I will go you one better and say the biggest problem with this refreshed 2012 Toyota Camey based on the 11 model is how under styled it is or more accurate, nothing but a refreshed 2011 model. The camry is showing its age and this refresh has done nothing for it but painfully show how outdated and long in the tooth this camry is

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

Should I be amazed at all the attacks on Toyota after all It is obvious that people do not like Toyota as much as they used to be liked if not loved, so the Question is why?

Now if I was a Toyota CEO I would want to know why there is so much hate for my brand and fix the problem or they can just set back and watch the problem get bigger. The slip in sales for the last 3 years is the buying publics way of saying "we are sick of Toyota"

Toyota really should have handled the recall issues better then they did, I personally think that is why people are walking away from Toyota.

Yes to all the Toyota fan boys I know they still had great sell numbers this year, but in the business world of a large car company like Toyota loosing 1 % then 2 % then 3 % year after year should be a BIG RED FLAG to Toyota.

Don't kid yourself with a fantasy of a perfect world for Toyota because 3 % is a huge loose for a car company as big as Toyota.

I personally do not mind the understated styling of the Toyota Camry for 2012 but I also would be very concerned for my family's safety in this car when I think about the way Toyota has handle recent recalls.

Toyota need to change the way they handle recall issues. Do not play the "I am innocent card" it just shows the buying public Toyota does not care.

What Toyota should had said is , OK we will issue a voluntary recalls and we do not care what it is called as long as our buying public is assured we do care.Toyota drooped the ball on the recalls and it will be years before the buying public forgets or forgives.

I agree with the last poster The cruze by chevrolet just outsold the camry for the month of may 2011 I seen lots of those camrys setting on dealer lots too so the por excuse of the earthquake does not fly

Drichvan said... »July 05, 2011

yawn. I was really hoping for a more aggressive looking vehicle to target younger generations.

Soon Toyota if you don't get your stuff together your entire Camry consumer base is gonna die off....literally.

Next Generation Toyota Camry for the U.S will be the Toyota Aurion currently sold in Australia , which in itself is just a face lifted 11 Camry

Toyota is going down the hill faster then a rock

I hope Toyota has fixed the transmission problems for the refreshed 12 model that has plagued the 11 model and left many Camry owners stranded " Oh what a feeling oh right"

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

damn video showed nothing. what a waste of my time. so should I get a Camry, yeah, why not? 'cause everyday driving to work is boring, and exciting car won't make any traffic jam anymore exciting, so why not get a cheaper well known, and may be reliable, boring car for that matter.

Anonymous said... »July 05, 2011

Hey Anonymous 44,If you want boring then Toyota is your car and your even get a slice of ugly with it.

If you want a reliable car, well then good luck on that if you buy the Toyota, but hey just keep a good pair of walking shoes with you.

If you want Cheap, your find cheap alright in the cheap materials used in Toyota's cars and trucks but their prices won't be cheap for you and your have a oh what a feeling in that wallet.

Hey any ways Good luck with your boring over priced unreliable cheaply made Toyota. Oh what a feeling indeed. o - o

Anonymous said... »July 06, 2011

For those who are raving about this grainy video, you are clearly just Toyota shills. No one could legitimately rave about this car. I don't hate the Camry, it's a fine car for what it is. But let's keep things in perspective... it's a bland car for the masses. And evidently it will continue to be just that going forward.

Anonymous said... »July 06, 2011

Looking all over the net but no pics of the interior. The front lights seem to look marvelous. Not getting a view of the rear, hope its good.
Not a car fan but looking out to purchase a new car.
Every one knows how good Toyota cars are, everyone knows that basic fact. If i want a new car Toyota is the first company i'd be heading to.

Anonymous said... »July 06, 2011

Looks like a Camry. Nice materials. The windshield will be short and the roofline meets front windshield too soon, so taller drivers have to crick their necks to see stoplight when stopped at traffic light. I have heard plenty of complaints about this. Whats with all the new ugly designs with bulky doors and limited glass? bad visibility, stop the high belt line styling...hate it Originality would be nice.

lol I love the comment" every one knows how good Toyota's are" lol yea just ask how good are Toyota's to all those people with the recalls and cars that crashed when the foot pedal stuck or spent days trying to get a TB fixed before the government made Toyota fix it. LOL yes Sir we all know how good Toyota cars are .

Anonymous said... »July 08, 2011

Anon 52

Stop ranting. You are as crap as the comments you make, "oh Toyota floormats, oh Toyota foot pedals, oh they crashed" These have been done to death and everybody knows it was a sabotage. Why Toyota suddenly had these problems and not gradually. And your comment make you seem desperate.

Anonymous said... »July 08, 2011

Anon 53 first , I am the writer of post 52 and like all the rest of the posters here I agree that Toyota is not a good car make and if you don't like it don't read my post or others peoples posts and really the only crap I see is when I read all your posts and the only sabotage here is by Toyota employees like you who post false posts and try to under mind every post here that does not work for the like of your employer Toyota. Second, if you really do believe any of the crap you just wrote here and in your other posts then I think you are smoking the same stuff Toyota was smoking when they believe the floor mat excuse would work. The fact is not one Toyota employee here posting Will change crap for Toyota unless they get off their butts and work on fixing the problems that are bringing Toyota down.Your right about the floor mats, They did not cause the problem as that was anther one of Toyota desperate lies to hide the truth about the gas and brake pedal problems that forced the NHTSA to make Toyota do recalls to fix them. I can promise you one thing,This desperate person here will not buy a Toyota .I have a 2007 Hyundai sonata with over 150.000 miles of problem free driving with only only 1 recall to fix the headlights that were not adjusted right. Hyundai of cause never came up with a desperate excuse to save cash on that recall.I still laugh at the floor mat excuse

Anonymous said... »July 08, 2011

Why would toyota suddenly had these problems and not gradually. i world advise you read ihatetoyota.com and see how indeed it was not gradually from makes dating all the Way back to the late nineties. There is nothing gradual about that or do you believe it is the same person too and it was the same person who brought down Toyota sells figure year after year. LOL I bet that same person complain about all the problems that made all those recalls. you anon 53 are not just desperate but you are paranoid

Anonymous said... »July 09, 2011

I thought this was going to be new for 2012? All I see is three 2011 models on that stage but if they are 2012 models then I guess Toyota did it again and exaggerated the truth . they might be 2012 models but at best with minor updates. Oh well I will buy a ford fusion.

Anonymous said... »July 09, 2011

I love what you do for me TOYOTA. No matter what anyone says, this camry will out sell any othter brand. Again for the past who knows how many years past and future.

Anonymous said... »July 11, 2011

hope they add a dual clutch auto on it

Anonymous said... »July 11, 2011

These TOYOTA employees posting on here is ridiculous. Evey one knows Toyota is not the same Toyota of past years. One can not dispute the sells figures that shows more people each year for the last few years have walk away from Toyota because of the poor quality and bla if not ugly designs of their cars and trucks, no matter what any Toyota employee post here.

Anonymous said... »July 11, 2011

I agree with the last post. That is why I brought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra and eveyone I know adores it when they see it ......

Anonymous said... »July 11, 2011

I think the TOYOTA Person is right. Since 1998 to 2010 the toyota camry has been the #1 selling Sedan. Now 2011 is still to see. I own a Ford 500 and i love it.

Squidbro said... »July 16, 2011

Never mind the looks. I personally prefer the Optima over the Camry hands down. Is Toyota finally giving us direct injected engines? How about fuel mileage? The Optima turbo blows the V6 Camry away in nearly every category and is every bit if not more reliable with a better warranty and lower price.

So what are you giving us Toyota? More bland and overpriced or are you going to go all out like Hyundai/Kia and give us the best products your engineers can deliver.

Never would I have thought that Hyundai/Kia would out engineer Toyota. But they have. Not just in mechanics, build quality and reliability, but also in performance, efficiency and design.

Anonymous said... »July 17, 2011

2012 or 2007 again? The 3.5 isn't changing, so the most exciting news might be the 2.7 4 getting an extra mpg over the 2.5. Maybe Toyota is hiding the fact that they're just changing headlights, tailights etc after 5 years, GM did that every September for 50 years.
