First Official Photo of 2012 Renault Twingo Facelift

|

Renault has given the smallest model in its range, the Twingo minicar, a mid-life facelift to keep it alive and fresh until its replacement, which will be based on a brand-new rear-wheel drive platform shared with Smart's future four-seater model, arrives in the market.

The French car firm released a single photo of the faclifted Twingo that is scheduled to make its first public appearance at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show in September.

We only get a three-quarter view of the car, but it seems that if not all, most of the styling changes took place up front, which looks more sharper now.

Renault said that the revised Twingo is the first mass production vehicle to be inspired by the new design identity of the brand as seen in its recent concepts like the Frendzy van and the R-Space MPV.

More details on the refreshed Twingo will be released closer to the Frankfurt Motor Show.

"rear-wheel drive platform" I like the sound of that speculation:)

Not good, Renault. You cocked up the Clio the same way. Shouldn't facelifts make your cars look *better*, not just *different*?

Have you noticed whenever, say, a Clio is face-lifted, Renault always makes it looks in-between the current (and yet to be launched and thus seen) successor, so as to make transition to the new models looks easier?

That would be a good platofrm to build a new 4CV.

Most manufactures do that Mr Guest. even the most subtle of facelifts or even midlife facelifts are normally 2-fold, to prepare for the successor model and to keep the current model relevant with the group's design language when another new product is realeased . Sometimes the changes are not dramatic but subtle.

I must agree with you, the Twingo has just lost it's cuteness, it was quiet a looker.

Its an improvement but it reminds me of the new MG 3 (see attached)

I think it is just as cute as the old one, especially the colour. Also hope there is a graphics kit like the Fiat 500.
