New 2012 Audi TT RS with 360-Horses Priced at US$56,850* in the States

|

After giving the green light to the U.S. specification TT RS last year, the flagship version of Audi’s sports coupe has finally arrived in the States. It will go on sale within the next few weeks with prices starting at $56,850 (*) excluding destination charges, taxes, title, options and dealer charges.

Interestingly, the North American version of the TT RS is more powerful than its European sibling as the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder TFSI engine is said to deliver 360-horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque between 1,650 and 5,400 rpm. The European market model is rated at 340HP and 450 Nm (331.90 lb.-ft.) of torque.

Power is channeled to all four wheels through Audi’s quattro system and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The brand with the four-rings says the TT RS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96km/h) in just 4.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 174mph (280km/h).

The TT RS also gets the Audi magnetic ride, which allows the suspension characteristic to be actively altered, bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels, a fixed rear wing, prominent body sills and exterior mirror housings in matte aluminum.

Standard features include special interior appointments such as the contoured 3-spoke sport multifunction steering wheel, aluminum door sills with the RS logo, and RS-specific interior door handles, along with 10-way power sport front seats with three-step heating, leather seat coverings, brushed aluminum interior inlays, and available LED ambient lighting.

why does the U.S. get crappy design alloys compared to euro spec cars?

I agree those wheels look like something from pep boys I take that they did that to charge people for nicer wheels as an option. Also why dont we get the dual clutch......wth

I just checked Audi site here in Portugal and we get the exact same wheels in the base version of the TT RS. If you want bigger and better looking you pay €1674,98 for 19" and €2689,99 for 20". Also it takes almost half second more from 0 to 100 and I believe the top speed is limited. So stop complaining, specially when we pay at least €75000;)

Price point realistic? I don't think so given what else is available.

The TT's price, now at 56k (for some real power), has just taken off in the past 5 yrs. You know this car will sell over 60k. Still the Porche Cayman/Boxter will still eat its lunch. The car was always slow, so the power increase is overdue and welcome. We don't know yet if it has turbo lag. With an aluminum body & frame (iron engine block?), the TT cannot get under or equal to 3k lbs. The Z06 is a much bigger car yet it weighs less, has more power & gets 25 mpg hwy. What gives? The high octane fuel, no doubt resulting from DI, is another point to consider as well as the simple 6 spd. No new interior and an ugly rear wing. At this price at least wallpaper the interior in suede! Borrow some gadgetry from the A7 or A8. It needs cubes, a strong twin turbo or supercharged six (A7). Is the 4.1 figure gained with the car revving its face off? Small turbo motors will never get great mileage or power down low as they struggle against curb weights and AWD. I always wanted this car to break out. But year after year, Audi settles by just tweaking it when it needs something big - segment wise.

Are you guys serious? The specs say that 19s (eg NOT the wheels on the Canada spec blue car above with the standard 18s in Europe) are standard equipment on US-spec models.

Learn to read. You're very lucky, especially with that power hike as standard!

Great looks, great quality, seriously fast, unmatched sound, limited availability, manual only, reasonable price... a classic in the making.

Finally the TT has the power to hang with others in its class, it's about time. All that torque down low along with all-wheel drive means excellent acceleration off the line, even on slick surfaces like mud and ice. That's how you get to 60 in 4 seconds with only 360 hp. I'll bet it's smooth as glass at 170 as well. I like that blue.
