Ford UK Announces Base 2012 Focus Studio with 85HP Priced Under £14k

|

Ford is widening the options for UK buyers of the all-new 2012 Focus by confirming the availability of a new entry-level model called Studio which will be priced at £13,995 when it arrives in September.

The company said the new Studio will replace the Focus Sport, a final special edition of the previous model that has been on sale since October 2010 reacting sales of 15,000 units.

The base model of the new Focus series will be offered as a five-door hatchback powered by a 1.6-liter Ti-VCT gasoline engine delivering a rather feeble 85PS and a combined fuel economy of 47.9mpg UK.

Buyers can choose only from three colors - Panther Black, Moondust Silver and Frozen White.

Standard equipment on the Focus Studio includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a body-coloured rear spoiler, radio/CD player (note that Ford of Europe recently announced that it will phase out CD players in its cars), USB connectivity, air-conditioning, electrically-operated door mirrors and front windows, Ford Easy Fuel 'capless' refuelling, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system.

Erm, they've been driving out of dealers since June!

Haven't seen many of these New Focuses (Foci?) on the road.
Guess it must be the new styling?
Or maybe Ford's turned Toyota with the driving dynamics?

So happy now that we North Americans now get the global Focus, having make do with the old (original) platform for so long.

Even better, here in Canada, for the equivalent of 500 Pounds more than the UK's entry level version, we get the absolute top Titanium sedan model. I'm sure it's even cheaper in the US...

I disagree with the styling...or the styling disagrees with me.

Yet another ford suffering from terminal blandness. The curly rear lights are particularly nasty.
Utterly forgettable.  If only they could find their own voice and come with great simple/classic designs with excellent brand-identity  --  which VW and Honda do so well...

At least us Canadians get the Flex, MKT, Edge and MKX cheaper due to Ford having the Canadian Oakville plant.

I hope so, as I shall be buying a Canadian spec car shortly [not necessarily a Focus, though it may be]

But one thing is the UK price includes sales taxes, whereas the Canadian price does not. This bumps up, say, a 2012 VW Golf from CAD $22k to about CAD 26k.

You know how to buy a car in the US and bring it over?
