Ford has gone ahead and revealed the Evos concept, which it claims, premieres the brand’s “first truly new global design language” developed under the One Ford product plan. Now, haven't we heard that before? If “New Edge” and “Kinetic Design” ring any bells, the answer to that question is yes…
According to automaker, the Evos' signature styling will form the basis for the next generation of Ford cars, minivans and crossovers, with the first actual production car to feature the new design language set to arrive in the market in 2012.
“The first fruit of this vision will be ready sooner than you might think – you'll see it in around four months rather than four years” said Ford Group vice president, design and chief creative officer, J Mays. “We can’t wait to introduce the first production car to include this new Ford design to our global customers.”
The Detroit company says that the most important element of the new design is the brand new ‘face of Ford’, as in the inverted trapezoid grille that was foreshadowed in the Focus Electric and the new Focus ST.
The Evos concept has a fastback body shape which is said to reinforce the models’ driving dynamics and distinguishes it from its competitors. Mays claims that he and his team have evolved the Kinetic Design concept to a simpler approach while at the same time incorporating “the new face of Ford” as shown in the Focus ST and the Focus Electric.
The 2011 theme for concept models seems to be “1,001 ways to open your car’s doors”. After Peugeot’s HX1 “half-scissor” doors, the Evos sports gullwing-style, upwards opening doors –all four of them, which of course will never make it to production.
The interior of the Evos is relatively tamer save for the futuristic dashboard. Oddly enough, the steering wheel wouldn't look out of context in a standard production car.
“The Ford Evos Concept is a strong statement of intent from the global design team," said Mays. "We believe that the new generation of buyers around the world has higher expectations for a more premium design language in all products. This played an important role in shaping this fresh design DNA.”
More details on the concept model are to be released at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where the Evos will make its world premiere.

It appears that Ford has based their new global design language after Aston Martin - it translates well albeit not original.
I see a new mustang and design cues for a updated gt40
peugeot
Really nice, just not sure these doors are practical
The exhaust is very Renault Megane RS
the Ford Iosis was a more stunning concept, was originial back in those days and was impressively realistic that it was just too stupid for ford not to make it, anyways, that universal body language was'nt really well translated into production cars....I suppose same could be said about Peugeot, but if it's one thing about the French it's that their concepts have always been awe inspiring and distinct.... put Ford in the middle of an Aston Martin and a the SAAB Phoenix and you'll notice there's nothing fascinating about it...even the headlight design's been done too often that it's not even synonimous with any manufacturere...
looks a bit kia to me...
So this would make it Ford's NEW New New Design Language, right?
Gorgeous design. Certainly doesn't look like a Ford. Perhaps this design would be better suited for the long overdue and much needed overhaul of Lincoln.
Grill from the facelifted Taurus: good !
A bit of Mustang DNA in the front.
Could also be a very good sedan if tone down a bit ! Could it be the inspiration for the Focus Coupe ?
Good Job !
Wow...I can't say I don't see some Aston and even some Kia in the front (yall know what I mean) but the rear is gorgeous. Way to go Ford.
I can see how this would be applied to other small cars, fiesta and focus mainly. If this was a one off sports coupe, I wouldn't complain.
Make this happen Ford...bring back another coupe like when you had the Probe! Go Probe!
smart, tight, sick and pumpy. i'd consider coming back to ford on this one ..
though by the time it hits production it'll look like the ford contour .. still, nice fleeting image ..
Good Job !
When will Ford get their own ideas??? Nice enough but clearly stolen from PSA Group. Notice the SR1 concept car front and Citroen DS style rear quarter. Lazy ford. No image, no new ideas, no future!
The FORD Explorer got my attention and I had to buy one as it perfectly fit into my current needs and we LOVE it, but this new concept just brought FORD to a whole new level in my eyes. Could an Evos be in my future? Hmm. Ball is in your court FORD, make it happen asap and you might just got yourself a new loyal customer.
That's what I'm worried about.
Hey Aston Martin, Ford used to own AM, so the design is really theirs. This car needs to be the new Lincoln Mark Coupe. Limit the name to Lincoln Mark as well, no more "Mark 11" or "Mark 39"
