Let's just imagine you're faced with this problem: You love the Fiat Coupe's punk rock styling but don't feel the same for its front-wheel drive layout. On the other hand, you're crazy about the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4's potent and technologically advanced powertrain but can't stand its notoriously bland looks.
We'll assume that any logical person would try to find an answer by looking into another vehicle, but not these guys. Welcome to insane tuning world of Russia's Totalcar that decided to create a vehicle that promises to deliver the best of both worlds.
We're still short on the full details as this is an ongoing project, but here's the skinny: the Russian tuner took the Mitsubishi's 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine and all-wheel drivetrain and somehow managed to fit it all under the beautiful body of the Chris Bangle-designed (yes, the same person who styled the BMW E65 7-Series) 1990's Fiat Coupé.
In the process, they also heavily modified the 6G72 V6 engine that produces a claimed 1,000-horses! That's more than four-times the output of the most powerful engine offered on the Coupe, the 2.0-litre 5-cylinder 20V Turbo of the Plus model.
Even if you're not a fan of these type of conversions, you have to appreciate the work and time that went into this creation.
We'll definitely keep an eye on the project and keep you posted for any updates in the future.

a lot of work for a Ugly car..
They should have chosen the Mits 3000GT VR-4 =D
Looks like the Russians have found a way around Fiat's unreliable engines!
I wouldn't exactly say the 3000GT has bland looks. There's way better cars out there to implant a VR-4 engine/ drivetrain into.
the 5 cilinder 20V unreliable? Srsly? Or the 4 cilinder 16V which is pretty much the Integrale engine?
i hope you're just trollin'...
I'd love to see a head-to-head with the Juke-R—dyno test and all.
That's pretty cool.
Hi guys!
My name is Victor, I'm from Moscow. That's my car.
It's a pretty long story how it turned like that 8)
I bought it at 2003, then a bit modifying until 2010.
At December 2010 we have started this project.
Many pictures are here: http://www.drive2.ru/cars/fiat/coupe/coupe/solo/journal/
So far techincal part is 90% done. I have 2 problems: clutch and brakes. Will be solved soon.
And now I make design.
My idea isto build car based on my specific requirements: AWD, small, light (now 1450kg full, taret 1300) and with unbelievable power.
There are 3 progs:
0,6 bar on 98 octane = 500 awhp
1,5 bar on 98 octane = 650 awhp
2,5 bar on 120 ocatne = 938 awhp
I think it will be lot's of fun when it will be done 8)
