Mazda to Woo SEMA Show Crowd with MX-5 Spyder and Mazda2 Turbo Hot Hatch

|

The countdown to the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas is heating up with only a few days left before the big event kicks off on Tuesday, November 1.

Mazda will be there with at least two concept models including the MX-5 Spyder and the Mazda2 Turbo.

The Japanese automaker has released very few details on the two cars but said the MX-5 Spyder sports a "new, more aggressive look" and that the Mazda2 Turbo is "one of our most powerful turbocharged engines in our lightest platform".

The most interesting of the two models is without doubt the racy-looking MX-5 Spyder that gets a revised lower front end along with an aero kit, larger alloy wheels, a different top that stretches out to the back and a lowered suspension.

More to come so stay tuned on Carscoop.

Should read: "The most interesting of the two models is without doubt the racy-looking Mazda2 Turbo."

The Mazda2 is The Autobarn Mazda of Countryside’s Speed2. It was built by The Autobarn for The one Lap of America Race. The car is a Mazda2 Sport with a Speed3 drivetrain including a 2.3l Turbo engine with a built bottom end by Cp-e and suspension work from Corksport. It was driven 3800 miles across the US by Eric Vates and Charles Espenlaub in the Compact car division. The car is on loan to Mazda R&D for the 2011 SEMA show

That's what the MX-5 should look like. It's about time no model has been in greater need of a facelift and redesign.  It still retains the character of the old but looks racier and more agresive, nice.

Nice Job Mazda........It's about time that they freshened up the Miata.  This car is B*A*D, now shoe horn in the twin sequential turbo from the RX line awhile ago, I'D RUN RIGHT OUT AND BUY ONE!

No comparison between the Porsche and the Mazda.  The Mazda is fun.  The Porsche is faster but overrated.

Is that Mazda 2 a coupe?  If so, I'd love it!  I detest four-door sedans!
