A patrol car dashboard camera video showing a woman being arrested in Sioux City has sparked allegations for police mistreatment.
Dacota Daniels, 34, was detained on August 8 at Sioux City by two officers, one in uniform and one in plain clothes after they stopped the rental car she was in as a passenger.
The plainclothes drug task force officer said in the report that he spotted Daniels’ fiancé, Christopher Robinson, driving the car despite being "known to have a barred license."
Daniels, a passenger in Robinson’s car, was taken out of the car and questioned. The confrontation escalated when the woman took out her cell phone and refused to put it down, with the footage showing the police officers using force to get her in handcuffs.
She later claimed that the officers mistreated her giving her a black eye and bruises, and is now considering suing the police department.
In response to the allegations, Sioux City Police Chief Doug Young said that the department's investigation concluded that the officer's actions during the arrest were justified: “The altercation was escalating; the officer got slapped”, he said. “She tried to resist throughout the whole incident.”

I don't see that the officers did anything wrong. They followed protocol and training. It's hard to control someone who is resisting. But nice boobs.

She answers phone, he says put it down then he rips it from here hand she has no time to react as he flips here around to put cuffs on her as he then punches her in the back also a slam down of her face on the hood. What I saw her doing is drinking a soda and a carrying phone in the other hand talking to the cops visibly upset but not resisting either the plain clothes or uniformed officer.
Watched it again some more, and realize that up until she answers the phone she poses no threat and is not under arrest , as the plain clothes officers has his arms together in no defensive stance and she is sitting on the hood in no offensive stance before he rips the phone from her hand if she had ripped something from his hands and started something I could justify his actions but based his offensive actions I side with the woman , both hands full sitting back she was upset but not the instigator of what went down

People are becoming fed-up with law enforcement...when the tables turn—plain clothes or not—I wouldn't want to be in law enforcement. The plain clothes police office should be suspended and released from the police force. This will go super viral on the net, and more news stations will pick this up too!
Someone can call this normal? No matter what the girl was saying to him, we all can see that plain policeman is exceeding the limits of authority.
If there is a law that says that police can't be filmed, then he can only tell that and turn his back.

The biggest question for me is . . . . what the hell does this have to do with automobiles? Isn't this a car blog? Plenty of videos of "alleged" police brutality out there. Is this what we have to look forward to in the future?

Trouble is on face value alone (the video) most will not side with the police. It's hard to comprehend how what is shown in the video with the officer pounding on her like that. Seems more out of his frustration in losing the main suspect and her verbal resistance (maybe?) than she posing any real threat. The police have to tow a fine line, when do they go the next step and when to hold back. Realize too that we're all human but through training the officers should use tools to cool a situation down if possible. I'm more than certain there's more to the story than simply what's presented in the video.

The plain clothes officer has already overpowered the otherwise strong lady. With the help of the other officer who to subdue her further, there is no need for the plain clothes officer to punch her repeatedly at the back.

Those of you who are complaining about the officers actions are obviously morons. First, she's in a car with a suspect who fled the scene. She wasn't immediately placed under arrest. She was told to sit on the hood of the police car. While there is no sound, her demeanor suggests that she is being somewhat belligerent to the officer indicating a lack of respect and feeble-mindedness on her behalf. He told her not to answer the phone. She ignored him. He repeatedly told her to get off the phone. She disregarded his direction. He attempted to take the phone away. She reacted by not handing it over. Then she proceeds to grab at him and at one point attempts to assault the officer. By putting her hands on the officer, his reaction was justified. If she had complied with the officer he would not have been forced to use physical force to subdue her and would have had no grounds to arrest and charge her. But her obvious lack of intelligence is why this situation occurred and nothing more.
Yes, there are asshole cops out there. But she got what was coming to her.

If this women was getting his ass, citizens would likely side for him, but this is not the case; he's a bully. It's totally justified. She wouldn't listen to the officer and she resisted arrest. If she would have just followed orders she could of just sat on the front of the car with no problem.

The women is agitated from the onset, is preoccupied by her phone and aggressively challenging the officer who responds by standing off and crossing his arms. Even when he disengages her several times by looking away and/or down, she continues to aggressively address him while still being preoccupied by her phone. It's clear she thinks her behavior has intimated them until he she triggers a response...I'm guessing by continuing to address him with profanity. Once he grabs her, she seriously attempts to set him straight by grabbing at him...that is when she crosses the line and demonstrates out of control behavior with no intention of cooperating.

If she had complied, there would have been no incident and that's a given. However, those two police cowards crossed the line. It's also her fault for not being rich, powerful and famous (and white). It appears, from their response, that the Sioux City Police Department is run by cowards, racists and punks with no honor.

Happens to men EVERYDAY, EVERY HOUR, but I'd never hear you man haters sticking up for a man when the same happens. She deserved every bit of that. She was about to impede an investigation.
