We completely understand that in certain life-threatening situations, police cars, fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles should have the priority on the road - even if that means breaking some laws, as long as they don't endanger the lives of other drivers.
But seriously now, tow trucks violating every single law in the traffic book just to be the first to reach a client at an accident scene is a something out of reason.
In the following video that was shot from a dashboard mounted camera placed in one of at least three tow trucks that were racing against each other on public roads in South Korea, we see the driver passing countless red lights and entering the opposite side of the road with no consideration whatsoever for the rest of the cars.
It's truly amazing that he didn't cause several more accidents during his "Need for Speed" rush…

Wow, it's like Need For Speed but in real life with people, Woahhh Nelly
South African Towtrucks are just as bad, only more powerful
It's no wonder that the towing industry has a bad reputation! Unfortunately, I've seen this sort of behaviour in Canada, where all tow trucks have is lights, and they are only supposed to be used when actually on the scene.
What? Is it first to the scene gets the tow?
The first traffic law in Korea is the largest vehicle always has the right of way. Really.
Where's Batman when you need him!?
this is quite normal in asia, especially at my place, they use bikes to scout for accidents and then call the trucks to get there...although the tow trucks drive like normally, everytime you see an accident you can see some fool on a bike racing to get there first..real bunch of assholes...
Ok I never saw the outside of this vehicle so as a tow owner, Ill have to call BS and even if it is a tow truck, they have sirens. I dont know what that means in Korea but you have to be a first responder to get them here in the States.
you didn't see the outside of the vehicle? Did you watch the whole video? Tow truck appears at 2.07 I assume the vehicle that the footage is recorded from IS an emergency response unit.
whoa....
Where's the police to uphold traffic laws when you need them??
My brother-in-law was a tow truck driver--he gave it up not for the RACE to be the first on the scene (he loved that part), but because he was often the FIRST person on the scene of many times deadly accidents, some involving young children, who are not required to wear safety belts.
