Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept Hints at Standalone Hybrid Wagon

|

The Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept made its debut today in the flesh at the 42nd edition of the Tokyo Motor Show.

The sleek looking station wagon with the taut surface forms is a proposal for a standalone C-segment hybrid model that measures 4,580mm (180.3-in.) long, 1,840mm (72.4-in.) wide and 1,430mm (56.3-in.) tall. Its exterior dimensions place it between the current Impreza (4,415mm long) and the Legacy (4,775mm).

The concept's design language both inside and out is believed to preview the forms and styles of the next generation of Subaru's models, though don't expect to see the scissor-style front doors on a production model any time soon.

The four-seater model is powered by a downsized 1.6-liter turbocharged flat-four with direct-injection mated and an electric motor that are mated to a continuously variable transmission and Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

The concept can drive on pure electric power from its lithium-ion battery pack for short distances while Subaru says that the set-up allows all-wheel drive motion using only the motor at start-ups and low-speed drives.

I've said it myself too.  Does everything have to look like an audi nowadays?

I totally agree on the audi part.. every detail in this concept is taken from them. At least some up with your own grill subaru!? and those metal things inside the grill.. audi.. stupid stupid asian car companies. seriously no car company in from the eastern aprt of the world can do design that look smashing, WHY is that!? it´s always wrong, it never looks cool! although this subaru is the best one I´ve ever senn.

Wow that front is exactly the same as the new A5 and A6!
Identical check.
Identical lights check.
Identical fogs heck.

You'd expect this from a Chinese company but not Subaru. Brutal.
