U SPY: Is this a Prototype for the Ferrari Enzo's Replacement?

|

During a recent trip to Maranello to visit the Ferrari Museum, Carscoop reader Edward Chew along with a close friend spotted this heavily camouflaged Ferrari prototype (or test mule) doing the rounds on the Italian firm's Fiorano test track.

Edward tells us that he and his friend were not sure what kind of model might be hiding behind all that cladding.

If you take a closer look at the prototype in the scoop pictures, you'll see that it has an extremely low bonnet and air outlets located at the rear end of the car, which can only mean that this is a mid-engine Ferrari model.

Now, we only know of one new mid-engined supercar that Ferrari has officially confirmed, and that's the Enzo's successor.

In a recent interview with members of the press during the presentation of the 458 Italia Spider, Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa said that the flagship Ferrari model would be revealed before the end of 2012 adding that it would continue to use a mid-mounted V12 engine.

Many thanks to Edward Chew for the scoop!

I would prevail in thinking that this is 599 replacement.

I would say it is the 458 challenge or whatever they call it, the proportions look more like a 458 than a Enzo-like supercar... and the side windows' openings are like those used on racing cars, I don`t think the Enzo successor will not have propper windows...

This is the Enzo replacement, sure about this, cant be the 458 stradale or whatever the name they will give it, the car is way to hidden for that! 599 replacement? no way, 599 and this Gts have the engine mid front and not mid rear. Remember Ferrari saying that the next enzo would be smaller but lighter? Remember the mille chili concept? so there you go, this is the Enzo replacement!

That´s definatly a very very old 458 Spider prototype.

Certainly not a stradale version of the 458. The stradale version would have a V8, not a V12

@guest: Why do you think that this car has a V12? Did you hear it? ;)

Yes, there is an Enzo replacement due to be delivered to the public by the end of 2012. It is NOT a 458 stuffed with a V12 as the engine bay is not large enough. Since I have recently partake in some of Ferrari's designs and concepts, I can tell you that the car will be instantly be recognizable as a Ferrari and not a Toyata! I considered myself very lucky as my position for one is very secured. Meanwhile, dream on and I hope you'll be able to get one for yourself as well. This will be a true SUPERCAR !!  No stretch of imagination will be required. :-))
The photos are not that of the new Enzo, sorry.

...because I was involved in the designing of it...  We are trying to bring back some of the traditional "trademarks" so that the car will remind people that this IS a Ferrari, not a super Lexus, McLaren or another BMW or Mercedes concept super car. The V12 is a prerequisite.
