While not a leak in the strictest sense, the ghost of the 2013 Ford Fusion sedan made an unexpected (but hasty appearance) on Ford's dedicated iPad application giving us our first look at the mid-size sedan model that will be officially revealed on Monday at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
Being that the 2013 Fusion is one and the same with the next generation of the global Mondeo that will debut at a later date, it shouldn't come to much of a surprise that the design is an evolution of the current European Mondeo sprinkled with styling cues found on the Frankfurt Motor Show Evos Concept.
Ford may have done away with its Aston Martin shares, but the Detroit company's designers had no problem looking at the British sports car maker's portfolio for inspiration when it came to the Fusion's front grille which is the same as the one found on the also new C-MAX hybrids.
We'll remind you that according to out intel, the 2013 Ford Fusion will be available with a choice of two turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines and a pair of hybrids. More to come so stay tuned…

"2013 Ford Fusion Shows its Face on App, Aston Martin Asks for its Grille Back" What are you? A fanboy? The Sun? Seriously, AM was Ford's pet when they come up with the design, so Ford can use it anytime it wants.
Aston makes a pretty car, but they're just going to put that grille on another ten or twelve cars that look nearly the same...
Ian worked for Ford through the 70's and even while he was away at TWR was responsible for the Aston we know and love today. He now only works with Jaguar leading their design team but the DB9 and Vanquish was designed when he worked for Ford... you guys are correct in citing that this is inspired by the AM grill because put the two side by side and beyond a faint resemblance in the silhouette, or the horizantally slated bars, there isn't much of anything AM, shape-wise, proportionally speaking, how high up the front fascia's beltline the grill is place, etc.
Maybe this is the only way Ford can win more business.. At least I am now more interested in Ford.
There is also a relationship to early Musang grills. Half Aston, half Mustang. The whole radiator grille identifier thing in modern cars is pretty interesting. Audi went to a sort of retro radiator grille thing a few years ago. BMW has the double kidneys. Mercedes has the old radiator based grille and the Mercedes SL based grill. All of them have little relation to the mechanical needs of the car. More half car mouth and half historic radiator. And just think, Edsel started it. (unsuccessfully at the time of course).
More like the Volvo SC90 from 2008 concept study. Where is the originality from Ford? LOL!

Exactly right. And it is also by the way the same grille in the Fusion Electric . . .
remember ford had this grill first over seas so aston martin took it from ford
