Police Seize MegaUpload Founder's Vast Collection of Luxury and Exotic Cars [Video + Photos]

|

You've no doubt heard by now about the U.S. indictment against the owners of the popular file-sharing site MegaUpload, which was shut down by feds on Thursday and which triggered a massive cyber-attack from Anonymous on a number of government websites including the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Today we also learn that the police seized a number of assets from the founder of MegaUpload, Kim Schmitz, aka Kimble, aka Kim Dotcom, including an amazing collection of automobiles with some rib-tickling license plates from his estate in New Zealand.

Twitter user Elliot Kamber was on hand to take a few shots of the cars that were seized, while we've also added a video after the break.

Among the vehicles taken from Schmitz's garage were a 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM with "Good" number plates, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG with a "CEO" plate, a pink 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible, a 1989 Lamborghini LM002 and a 2010 Maserati GranCabrio. The cars are estimated to be worth over $6 million.

You can take a look at the complete list of the cars below while the complete federal indictment is available online here.

Im assuming this will lead to a witchhunt of sorts for the government after reading the information listed, it seems that anyone with any copyrighted information on their sites will be targeted.  Megauploads issue despite the writeup constantly referring to it as a conspiracy (sounds a bit redicuous to be honest) is that it doesn't police what users are able to upload into its servers.  If anyone uploads for example a CD that they purchased and than someone else downloads it they are commiting copyright fraud. So on one end I see how from a legal standpoint tis not right but at the same time why should we as people be forced not ot share information that we paid for iwth others, why should these websites have to police what is uploaded and for anyone reading this Im pretty sure a site this large wont be the only target blogs, social networking sites, personal pages, and similar "cloud services" will be targeted as well. After reading this Im pretty confident that the "consipracy" thats coming isnt megaupload but the devestation of the internet as we know it.........have fun.

I agree.  Megaupload is being used as a wedge for implementation a much larger agenda, using copyright as something of a trojan horse.  Music and movies is one thing, but SOPA doesn't stop anywhere near there.  Under its provisions, even a site like this could find itself under threat if someone decided to claim ownership simply of a photo or video.

Well big brother at work but working for the corporations not the people. Any future Megaload sites or similar should incorportate thru Bermuda or the Cayman Islands.. There they will probably not be touched because that is where congressmen, corporate laundrymen, and drug lords launder their money. They cannot close the websites to the bermuda accounts without cutting off their hidden money and other illegal accounts. If you do not believe just research Bermuda.. look at the wealth in the country and look at the population..(back 10 years ago) everyone their should be multi-millionaires if the money belonged to them.. The political system will not mess with where the rich hide their money.. Bainsian economics (money laundering 201 learned from Romney) leagally according to the current laws... Run your corporations and web site thru bermuda and enjoy the protection of billionaires hiding their money there.

[In a collective rage, Anonymous lashed out with the force of a cyber-nuke. The display of power is awesome--there will be a lot of high-fiving hackers tonight, that's for sure.]

Hackers are the lowlife cowards comparable to any blood sucking leach who steals.  Will you laugh when someone hacks and steals your livelihood.

MiralDesai said... »January 22, 2012

The guys a lowlife thief. Credit fraud being one of things he used to do. Almost glad his site got shut down. For a guy with his wealth though, he has some awful cars. Not to mention the cringeworthy number plates.

SOPA is only a wide cover to smother the internet. To smother rising awareness on all things wrong today and before, on the internet, and keep track on "troublemakers".

cis88 said... »January 30, 2012

well the fact that he got caught for all that crap i can understand but for the site please, people share files all day long. they just used the site as an excuse. now most of the next will be shut down for sharing files. DON'T the GOV have better thing to spend their time and money on!  lets how many of his cars disappear now.
