Nissan 350Z Coupe Crashes Into 350Z Roadster on the Highway, How Did that Happen?

|

Here's a video that will have you trying out YouTube's loop feature to find out what exactly happened to cause this crash between two fellow Nissan drivers, which looks like it took place either in the States (more likely) or in Canada.

The dashboard footage from the Infiniti G35 that was following from behind shows the Nissan 350Z roadster on the left lane and the allegedly supercharged 350Z coupe on the right side driving at what appear to be normal speeds.

Then when hear something that sounds like an engine revving and all of a sudden the coupe Z pulls to the left and smashes into the silver roadster with both cars falling into the grass median.

Fortunately, according to the YouTube poster's description, no one was hurt during this incident.

[From YouTube Description]

"Check out that still shot (!) Wet roads + supercharger = thank god the wires did what they are supposed to do. Everyone walked away, minus the silver 350z. It actually went through the wires (under 2, over 1). -They were not street racing-. I was behind them in my g35 for miles in a group, we were all cruising @ the speed limit (70mph). The vortech supercharged black Z tapped the gas and broke loose the brand new tire."

You can hear idiot child hit the gas. New tires? Everyone knows to break them in—except idiot child. How's idiot child going to explain this to his friend in the other Z?

P.S. Exhausts are way too loud. Boy racers' who don't know or can't afford to take it to the track.

Tire break in 50 miles, bonehead.....anyone who does not know that should not comment. What has that and loud exhaust got to do with the accident.
Funny how the commenters that sound unbalanced seem to be the most critical.
Maybe a suspension or steering failure.
I can understand why you don't use your name.

The video caption does not mention anything about 50 miles break-in. It also states that they were traveling the speed limit of 70mph giving no reason why the Z in the slow lane would have to hit the gas—no passing or reason to move out of the way. Insurance company will love this video for denial of claim.

P.S. Good point on suspension modifications for the insurance company too. Especially if said modifications are only approved for racing or off-road.

LOL such a noob response! The black Z was supercharged and obviously was trying to show off. That was his reason to hit the gas in the slow lane! You can clearly hear he bounced off the rev limiter. He hit rev limit because tires broke loose due to mashing the gas. It's NOT related to suspension issues. It's completely acceleration related. Simple laws of vehicle dynamics.

The guy punched it trying to show off how fast he can pull away from a stock Roadster. Or the Roaster irked him on knowing he was supercharged just to get a kick of how fast the blown Z is.

The black Z broke loose and probably slightly pulled to the left side.

Since he bounced the rev limiter and felt the car slightly slide/loose traction he completely let off gas (panic mistake) and didn't counter steer when he should have (or didn't give enough). Common mistake on the track. Abruptly lifting his foot off throttle and lack of enough counter steer caused him to oversteer and veer into the left lane.

VDC was apparently disabled.

Sounds right. If they purchased a real car they wouldn't have this issue.

Greensboro Nc I know who took the video

wet roads + RWD + 300+hp any car would skid if you put your foot down, accidents are accidents, it happens to everybody stop trying to sound you could avoid it..

more to the point...why was the driver holding a camera doing 70

Click here for a more photographs of the accident and a little feedback. There was a link to the 350Z forum, but the thread is gone (likely owed to what really happened and not wanting the insurance companies to find out).

Although we don't have his build specs on the culprit 350Z, hence no bhp. The rear tires don't looked stretched on the rear rims so it would be interesting to learn it they were seated properly as they were supposedly new to count out any rim spin. Doubt if they have knurling inside like the GT-R factory rims. VDC is no substitute for driving ability. When the 370Z was first out there were crashed (pretty badly) owed to turning the VDC off. In any event, the video is clearly demonstrates the price of 350Z insurance premiums rising.

The cars were lining up to race and the camera car was there to film it, bullshit description from YouTube!

Looks like the biggest failure was the broken weak piece of crap component that was found behind the steering wheel. Driving FAIL. LOL.
