Well, This is Embarrassing: Aston Martin One-77 has the Hiccups…

|

It's never a pleasant experience should your vehicle stall on a heavily trafficked public road with a lot of people watching, but we can't help but think that it has to be worse when it occurs to a €1.1+ million (US$1.3 million) Aston Martin One-77 that's capable of reaching a top speed of about 220mph (355 km/h).

And that is exactly what happened to one of the 77 owners of the exclusive Aston Martin model, not once, but more than a couple of times somewhere in France.

For the record, the One-77's 750bhp 7.3-liter V12 powerplant is linked to a six-speed automated manual gearbox with column-mounted paddles. Hop over the jump to check out the video.

Tricky clutch and a cold engine.

It doesn't have a manually operated clutch.

The people that have the money to buy such a car are not always the most capable of driving it correctly. Or any other car for that matter...

Typical Aston driver. they all think they can drive one.

Damn. Some one spends to much time being driven by a chauffeur.

Wierd stuff, so advanced auto-tranny and no hydrokinetic transmission.

Kaveh said... »January 30, 2012

Sounds like a older super car problem, you have to warm up the gear box on them.

Kaveh said... »January 30, 2012

Sure it does, it has a clutch, you can hear it clicking into gear.  Auto manual gearboxes come in either auto box with manual shifting or a manual gear box with a computer.

This is not good for Aston Martin. My first car ( I am 62 now ) was a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 with a 289 and a 3speed manual. It was not much money new, but it ALWAYS ran better than the $1.3 M plus Aston Martin. Sure it was not as fast ( by light years ) but it was a way more practical investment. It lasted almost 200,000 miles with only spark plug and oil changes. SAME clutch.
It had an autolite 2 bbl carb. I learned on it starting at 16 yr old, and did drive it hard. I ditched it once so hard it broke a cast iron manifold on one side. New junkyard manifold, no other damage needing repair.

What is different with this car from the other new Aston Martins that makes its price so high? These car prices are ridiculous, even Jeremy Clarkson who is quite wealthy is appalled at them.

Carbon fibre monocoque, 100% hand built, specifically developed v12 engine, only 77 made, and completely tailored to the requirements of the customer, to name but a few reasons. Why not do some research instead of just reading what Jeremy Clarkson says?

One foot on the break, one foot on the accelerator, old cop technique.
