Understandably, because of the speed you and other drivers are traveling at on the highway, even the smallest object on the road can put you in a very dangerous position – let alone something as big as a ladder.
That said, the driver of the sedan you're about to watch in the video that follows after the break, should consider himself extremely lucky to make it out without a scratch - though, a clean set of pants may be necessary...

Taiwan again!!
In this situation will be good to have ESP/ESC
Happened to me in Southwest Canada a few years back! A pickup dropped at ladder in front of me on the highway. I stopped with the flashers on behind the ladder almost over on the shoulder. Then I was almost rammed from behind by another pickup driver not paying attention! My heart took som e time to slow down after that!
So you came to a complete stop ON THE HIGHWAY, not but almost on the shoulder and it's the pickup who is in the wrong? Sounds like you should have pulled actually off the highway before stopping.
Thats it... NEVER stop on a freeway area, youre asking for trouble..
FYI - the ladder was IN the right lane just lined up with the left side of my rental car. I was trying to prevent other drivers from hitting it without haveing to exit my car... THAT is also a no-no on the highway. And I expect drivers to use their eyes to see the road when driving...
Still think I'm in the wrong?
omg. never brake, while steering hard !!! !!!
he would not have lost controll, if he didnt brake! why did nobody use the warn-lights?
