Over the past three decades, Peugeot has made a name for itself in the hot hatch market with cars like the 205 GTI/Rallye/Turbo, the 106 Rallye/GTi and the 206 RC/GTi.
Naturally, the recent presentation of the 208 supermini meant that the French carmaker is getting ready to revive the RC / GTi moniker. This may happen sooner than we think as Peugeot just published a teaser photo of a double tip exhaust on its Facebook page with the caption "Is the myth coming back?"
While we can't be absolutely sure, our guess is that the car hiding behind those exhaust pipes housed in what appears to be a diffuser could be the production or more likely, a concept version of the upcoming 208 GTi.
If this is indeed the case, expect to see the hot hatch fitted with a variant of the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine developed by the PSA Peugeot-Citroen in conjunction with the BMW Group.
As always, we'll keep an eye open for any updates and post them as soon as we get them.

Two-door looks great, I like the brushed aluminum accents on the steering wheel and gear shift knob, neat C-shaped taillights, and the blue lights along the glass roof perimeter are way cool.
Should make a phenomenal rally car too.
ugly comes in three and five doors now.
Really excited for the Peugeot 208 launch!
Brilliant car, is going to go down really well with both current and new customers.
