Top Gear may be getting viewers' thumbs up when it comes to watching the show, but one of its hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, got a thumbs down when it came to choosing a celebrity co-driver for a 4x4 adventure, according to new research by Continental Tyres.
The outspoken TV presenter was rated as the worst person to share a 4x4 drive across the Sahara Desert in the poll of 2,000 motorists. Clarkson was followed closely by media persona and former model Katie Price and Prime Minister David Cameron who finished third.
“Jeremy Clarkson might have motoring credentials but either his calamitous road trips on Top Gear his lack of practical skills or his outspoken views mean most people would leave him behind," said Tim Bailey, spokesperson for Continental Tyres.
On the other side of the spectrum, when men were asked which female celebrity they would select for the journey, Playboy model Kelly Brook was number one, while women chose Twilight star Robert Pattinson.
According to the poll, some 75 percent of drivers would ditch a celebrity altogether and nearly half would prefer to have a family member sitting on the passenger side.
Top ten worst celebs to go on driving adventure with:
1. Jeremy Clarkson
2. Katie Price
3. David Cameron
4. Kate Moss
5. Carol Vorderman
6. Christine Bleakley
7. Nick Clegg
8. Madonna
9. Simon Cowell
10. Lewis Hamilton

Clarkson LOVES this free publicity! A road trip with Clarkson in real-life is likely fun as hell.
LOL Simon Cowell should be first. He'll criticize every foot of your driving. Him and Clarkson should be switched. Id go on a road trip with Clarkson.
hes the most funniest and spontaneous man alive, at least he knows a thing or two about driving, what about simon cowell or katie? they probably never even changed a tyre by themselves before,
it would be an honor to most people to drive with him...
Looks like only scoopsters are up to this.
Gordan ramsey should be in the list
I wonder if 'Tiff' was in the poll list. He would be my choice
Speaking of polls on Clarkson... here is one he fared well in...> A 2008 poll(English) of 5,000 female members of an online dating website, Clarkson came third in a poll of MISAs—Men I Secretly Adore—
Characteristically, Clarkson was upset not to have come top. 'The Sun'_30 January 2008
PS! In proper context..... 'Tiff' would be my favorite choice for an English co-pilot.
Sorry, but i would have jeremy clarkson any day on a road trip! I wouldn't want any of the other. Whoever has voted in this pole has got it wrong. its only out of 2,000 motorists, thats nothing compared to how many motorists are in this country!
