New Toyota GT 86 Priced from £24,995 in the UK, Puts it Between the MX-5 and the 370Z

|

One of the most strongly anticipated sports cars of the year has been priced in Britain. Toyota revealed today that the new GT 86 coupe will carry an on-the-road price of £24,995 (equal to €30,206 or US$39,550) when sales start in June.

This puts the GT 86 between two other popular Japanese sports cars in terms of pricing, the Mazda MX-5 that starts from £17,990 for the 124bhp 1.8-liter soft-top model, and the Nissan 370Z that begins at £29,950 for the 324bhp 3.5L V6 Coupe.

For the record, the base GT 86 is £2,000 more expensive than the Mazda MX-5 with a retractable hardtop and the 158bhp 2.0-liter engine.

Toyota said it will announce further pricing and specification details closer to the time of launch, though it is already accepting advance orders in the UK.

The four-seater coupe is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated boxer-engine delivering a maximum output of 197bhp at 7,000rpm and a peak torque of 205Nm (151.2 lb-ft) at 6,600rpm, linked to a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

Power is distributed to the rear wheels through a standard limited slip differential.

No way it will be $39k here in the States, typically the Pound Sterling price can be replaced with a dollar sign.

Subaru needs to replace the Forester's 4spd trans with the BRZ's 6spd trans.

This car looks so cool! And the power it possesses makes it a complete runner on the road - no one will ever be able to catch this baby. This is my typical type of car. The exterior is every bit as manly as one should expect from a powerhouse. It may be a bit expensive, but I'm definitely doubling up my savings for this one.

Who said it would be $39,000.00 in theU.S,?

For the power and class, it has to be within the Hyundai genesis 2L turbo

The conversion rate based on £24,995 equals around $39,550, today, Hugh.  Would never sell in the US/NA, at that conversion figure.  Price point will have to come in a around it's competition, Camaro_$23,280, Genesis_$22,250, Mustang_$22,310, and all of those cars will have around 270 to 300+ Hp.

Reg;  "no one will ever be able to catch this baby."    Huh!  Are you commenting on the right car... It is a GT-86, not a Veyron.

Reg, "exterior is every bit as manly as one should expect from a powerhouse:    Do you have adequacy or gender issues?

Huh! Simon meant the fun quotient.. handling.. what a sports car should exactly have. No one can catch up on that. Well not exactly, you have Miatas, the GTRs, the LFAs and Porsche's. His comment looks like a paid by Toyota comment but what he says is not wrong. The GT-86 is already a rage.
Talking about Veyron... the GT-R...no forget GT-R even Juke can singe this museum car's ass.
