Scoop: Audi Working on a Mild Facelift for the Q5 Crossover, gets 3.0L Supercharged V6

|

Our spies have captured a prototype of the upcoming Audi Q5 facelift during some cold weather testing in northern Europe.

There's not much to say about this specific test car's appearance as it is a prototype for trying out the updated Q5's mechanical hardware (more on that in a bit).

However, we believe that the actual facelifted model will encompass the same styling changes seen on recent Audis such as the refreshed A4 and A5, and which include more stylish and narrower headlamps and the company's new hexagonal front grille.

What's more important about this test vehicle is the 3.0T badge on the tailgate as it denotes the use of Audi's new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 TFSI petrol engine, which delivers from 300PS (296bhp) in the A6 up to 333PS (328bhp) on the S4 models.

Audi may also fine-tune the rest of the Q5's diesel and petrol engines as well as its transmissions to reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. We'll keep an eye open for more news on the Q5 and update accordingly.

The 3.0T badge on the tailgate might also mean the 272PS version one of the 3.0 TFSI they have now silently introduced on european a4/5 models.

That would be a fun sleeper with the same motor as the S4

The Beamers in this class looked better by far. The Audi, like its car siblings, is plainer to look at.  But in a region with regular conditions like these I'll take Quattro all-wheel drive any day over what BMW has two offer.

Anybody seen the Audi commercial with the tow truck driver, love that commercial, and it's not just a legend, it's true they never get stuck. :)
