The "shoot first ask questions later" approach of some police officers from Henderson City in Nevada resulted in the cruel beating of Adam Greene who was suffering from a diabetic shock at the time.
The incident took place more than a year ago but the video footage from a Highway Patrol vehicle was released on Tuesday after Green reached a settlement in his federal lawsuit against the Henderson police department.
According to the police report, a patrol car spotted a Honda Accord weaving among lanes at about 4 a.m. on October 29, 2010, before it came to a stop near Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway in Henderson. More Nevada State Troopers and Henderson police cars soon arrived to the scene.
An officer approaches Greene in the Accord and while pointing a gun at him tells him not to move and then to come forward. The dazed driver is unresponsive. Soon five officers join in and pull Greene out of the car throwing him down on the road.
They handcuff him while he continues to wiggle at which point a sixth officer with the Henderson police enters the frame and kicks Greene several times in the face. In the video, you can hear an officer yelling "stop resisting mother f…*".
After a quick search, another officer discovers insulin in Green's pocket, which of course, changes the story. "Call in medical. We found some insulin in his pocket. ... He's semiconscious," the officer is heard saying. "Let's get medical out here. He's a diabetic, he's probably in shock," the officer later tells dispatch.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, after the police forced him to blow into a Breathalyzer, Greene was treated at the hospital with broken ribs and bruises to his hands, neck, face and scalp.
The Nevada man later filed a lawsuit against the Henderson police and the state of Nevada. According to the settlement, the Henderson City Council paid Greene $158,500 and his wife another $99,000, while the state agreed to pay $35,000, bringing the total $292,500.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal says that none of the officers were named in the lawsuit, and that only one sergeant involved in the incident was disciplined but remains in the department.

can anyone trust any cop to be fair and reasonable and then they wonder why the public doesn't give them much support
See, all that police training paid-off! Meet what America is becoming. Love the "Oh shit" moment when they find the insulin. Now, the driver does have the responsibly to stay off the road unless fit to drive, but the video exhibits patently absurd behavior by the army of police officers; lucky they didn’t kill the driver. Having been to Henderson, Nevada, it one of those cities best flown over than driven through.

WARNING: Stay out of Henderson, Nevada!. The Nazi-cops will beat the sh*t out of you!!!
Let's see how the Henderson, Nevada Chamber of Commerce turns this into a positive "Visit Henderson" campaign to attract tourists(!!!)
This kind of thing is becoming disturbingly commonplace in the US as the country descends into this weird hybrid of despotism behind a facade of democracy. Its like they've been let off the leash.
thank allah police continue to beat first and ask questions later!
2:03 "Anybody hurt?"
Yeah the guy on the ground
Kind of reminds me of theses cops..DOH!

"I could've taken him by myself"
Well no shit sherlock! Maybe if he'd asked the guy at the beginning if he was alright he might've worked that out earlier. Total over reaction by these nazi pigs and the guy deserves every dollar he got as compensation.
Why can`t people like Greene RIGHT AWAY TELL THE POLICE THEY ARE DIABETIC and not sit there pissing off the police. This is like Rodney King, NO ONE MENTIONS that he stabbed one of the officers with a small knife in the leg (HOW CONVIENANT THE SPECIAL INTEREST MEDIA DID NOT TELL THE PUBLIC THAT) which caused them to use excessive force. Just people twisting things to make the police look bad. There is more to this story that we are being told.
You sir are an idiot. When you are in diabetic shock, you're stuporous, cant even say a word.
Forget settlement; these cops should all have been reprimanded! It should not have been about the money, but on principle to get them fired! What is the use of the dashboard cameras when we can't even rely on the government to punish their own power-loving egomaniacs in getting away with this.
Yes, Doc.. 'The Man' is an idiot. Unfortunately we have all to many of them and some are in law enforcement.
Along with the Racists. God help us
If they had the facility to do that they would.
The onset of diabetic coma is sudden and you can't function in any way or manner. That is why diabetics can't pilot aircraft.
Move along nothing to see hear just the usual police are above the laws they are suppose to enforce. Of course without reprimand ever for any action on the job they are free to do whatever they want. Good thing nobody yelled gun and unloaded 1000 rounds into him like 1 wouldn't be enough
Love the Wikipedia description of Henderson “Henderson is a suburban city that has dirtbag police who mercilessly beat diabetics and old women in Clark County, Nevada,”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henderson,_Nevada
Henderson is pretty typical of suburban cities in Nevada who pay their cops to keep out the undesirable elements, illegal immigrants, Hispanics, dirty hippies, black folks, anybody who isn't white. Such municipalities make it their business to hire tough guy cops, i.e. sadist who can't get jobs in the larger municipalities that have higher standards when it comes to the people they hire. Late every night you'll find them beating up drunks or harassing homeless people, you know getting out their general frustrations for being born into families where they were physically and sexually abused.
Such people often get sexually aroused when they beat up people like this, sadly in the new America this has become the norm for many police departments who are desperate to hire anyone who will work for low wages and crappy benefits with no job security. This didn't used to be the case when it comes to law enforcement, but as they are squeezed in this economy and by Republican politicians who have no respect for anyone who works for a living, so their standards have fallen accordingly, and this is what you get, psychopaths with guns and badges.
These guys probably work out six days a week and it still took six of them to subdue some poor guy in diabetic shock, yeah real tough guys. These are the same types that if they didn't get jobs in law enforcement they'd wind up in prison, and they'd be abusing people in there.
Only in America...
I actually said that out loud as I watched the video...
Both of you are probably pot smoking lowlifes who "hate the cops" because you are doing illeagel stuff. I have dealt with losers like you and you are the only "people" who have issues with the cops. I know the truth about scum like you. You make our nation disgraceful.
So the point is if you drink and drive in Henderson Nevada you get your ribs kicked in and brock and called every vile name in the book by thug cops.
I usually side with police officers protecting themselves when in a dangerous situation. However this is utterly ridiculous. That paltry sum that he received for what he endured is truly adding insult to injury. In addition to that none of the officers involved were named in the lawsuit and were not disciplined? Note to self ; stay out of Henderson County Nevada.
diabeticonboard.com could have prevented this!!!
