Staying put well inside the boundaries of road is never a good idea, even more so if the weather conditions are very poor – i.e. rain, snow and ice.
However, to the defense of the hitchhikers seen in this video, the man driving the dashboard camera-equipped vehicle was not only going too fast for the conditions of the road, but he also didn't even bother to slow down once he saw them signaling for a ride.
This proved to be a bad move, as you can for yourself in the video that follows.

Oh Russia, you're awesome!
Honking sealed his fate.
LOL, that made me laugh. I know the guy driving the car wasn't laughing though, no doubt the hitchhikers got an earful.
I think the headline should read "Driving Entirely Too Fast on a Frozen Road is a Bad Idea".
rule number one: keep you're hand on the damn steering wheel
LOL the driver says "Cyka", it means "whore" in english ^^
In Soviet Russia, hikers hitch you? Eh?
Not entirely correct. Here's a transcript for those who are interested.
When he starts to skid sideways:
- Suka! = "B!tch!"
About to flip:
- Gospodi! = "Oh my God!"
And last but not least when vehicle comes to a stop, addressed to noone in particular but most likely to the hitchhiker:
- "Ebanii ti v rot!"
which has no adequate equivalent in English, closely implies potential oral intercourse between the driver and offending party. Closest substitute is "Motherf*cker!" but about 100 times more severe :D
I thought the last hitchhikers in Russland were eaten in 1917.
